This has to be right up there with the one where the reporter asks Mike Tyson about his future and he responds...."I'll probably fade to Bolivia".

The San Fransisco 49ers recently took the interim off now head coach Mike Singletary, but apparently the new contract didn’t come with a spelling 101 class.

In a recent interview with the media, when asked about his defenses tendency to hold back on plays, Singletary spoke about his philosophy on defense saying that his teams was going to be, “physical with an F.”

I don't know. What little I know about Singletary, he probably spells physical with a U as well.

He might have been trying to be clever with that "F" but he just came out the other end sounding like a guy who can't spell physical.

Mike should just keep it simple and stick to the coach-speak in the future or he may find that he too fades to Bolivia in the end.

That comment by Singletary reminds me of the famous rant he had during a post-game press conference. After he sent Vernon Davis to the showers, Singletary said that he would rather have 10 men and get penalized all the way than have Davis on the field.

There is no penalty for having 10 players on the field. Even though you're at a disadvantage, a team can play with only 10 players. You only get penalized if there are more than 11 players on the field.

Given the assumption that Coach Singletary has been familiar with Physical Education from the first grade on through college, I don't believe spelling is the issue. It sounds more to me he was doing shop talk that wouldn't necessarily be understood outside the shop.
