To be honest, I've hated the Jones pick since the second we made it.

The guy I wanted at that spot, Jason Hill, hasn't been any better though.

Robert Ayers is a guy I like a lot. Could get a similar tag like Matthews- wasn't a starter till his senior year. I was a big suppporter of trading down and taking him but then we signed Antonio Smith. He'd come in as a situational pass rusher but have the ability to develop into an every down DE, probably once Smith's contract is up. That could be good planning. However, in the past he's been charged for aggravated assault so he doesn't fit the boy scout bill.
Beanie Wells is a guy I'm starting to like a little more. I still see better value at RB a little later. No guarantee at all we get Jennings in the 3rd but that's what I'm hoping for. Wells has a history of injuries but hopefully none are recurring.
Ron Brace is a one dimensional NT- run stopper only and only a two down player. I don't want to target that in the 1st round. Stopping the run is important though and Brace is awesome at that. For true value from this perspective I'd rather look at it later in the draft than the 1st.
Sherrod Martin- he's a CB/S tweener guy that I would definitely be interested in during the middle rounds. May have some durability concerns. I have not heard/read any negatives about his character/work ethic so that's good.

Davis: I have same concerns you do and looking at Sean Smith in late 1st or 2nd
Ayers:Charges were dropped. Focus on one year wonder, but he sure looks good.
Brace: google him as I saw an article he can collapse pocket.
Wells: Just can't see a RB in 1st round.
Martinidn't he have some shoulder issues? I have so many of these players running around in my head I get confused.

I really like James Casey and if we could manage to get an extra 2nd i'd jump all over him. You cant pigeon hole the guy as "just a TE" he's a man with many talents and I think he would allow our innovative young OC ample opportunity to exploit those talents.

Plus, if OD is asking for a Kellen Winslow contract it would probably be a good idea to draft a fallback option like Casey to reduce his leverage in negotiations.

Nope. Cosby was fast enough to be the Longhorns kick returner. The two big knocks on him are size (he is only 5'9") and age (would be 27 years old as a rookie).

Pretty good job old Miss. I could only detract from your work....so any nit picking we'll leave for next off season. I'd be pretty happy with that haul.

I've got the man love for Quinn Johnson on the second day. We totaly don't need him if they draft Mathews....but I stilll like the guy a lot.

His years as a safety in high-school?

If he played as much as most teams starters before '08(as you claim) then his production is all time terribad.

So, the point remains that Anthony Weaver was more effective in coverage than Clay III in 2008.

Malcolm Jenkins is one of my favorite prospects. I believe he'll be gone esp. with NO right in front of us.

My question is, what if he's on the board when DEN/WAS are up. Do we jump NO or take the risk and wait it out? I see a valid arguement for Beanie Wells to NO to pair with Bush. But would they take him over Jenkins?

Okay, the "chart" says it costs an early 4th or a late 3rd to trade up with WAS/DEN. I don't think we'd have to give equal points this year though.

The key to a trade down (esp. only 2-3 spots) is having a couple players that that team would be comfortable drafting. For example, Denver, they may like Maualuga, Cushing/Matthews, E. Brown, T. Jackson, Freeman, etc. Washington may like Andre Smith or some other players too. Now the key is this. Washington moves past NO to our spot. We move up and take Jenkins. Washington is worried New Orleans takes "their guy" or maybe the have a few people they like and are comfortable. Or another team moves up to NO and picks that guy. those are the risks.

If either team is comfortable, I think we could give up our 4th rd pick b/c the risk to those other teams is fairly minimal if it's set up right. Question though: Would that be worth it for us!?

would you give up our 4th rd pick to move up a few spots to take Malcolm Jenkins? I really don't like the idea of giving up a pick, esp. one we can capitalize on. But IF we have Jenkins rated a lot higher than the other players I'm willing to do that. Otherwise we may "reach" on a player if we can't trade down. Or get a less impactful player.

I know we all love Dunta (some are getting tired of his contract status) but I could see him being on another team next year. I think re-signing Demeco Ryans and Owen Daniels are both higher priorities right now.

I can see Jenkins coming in and filling the void left by Dunta.
In 2009 we'd have Dunta and Jenkins as starters with Reeves as the nickleback.
In 2010 maybe Bennett would have developed as the #2 with Reeves staying at nickle and Molden being a good backup.

Love it old Miss....and the TT guy may turn out to be the better pro. I'm hot for Sidbury too. I like Casey.....and if I thought we were in the market to run the wild cat....I'd be with you with Casey.
But one of the two would be out the door in September....Anderson or Casey. I don't think Anderson's untouchable....but he is what he is.

Think your board is just fine with me though. If that's your guys more power to ya. I'd sacrifice Sidbury to be drop dead sure we were covered at the center and guard slots. And I love Sidbury.

I don't know if I would trade up. I've thought about it a few times, but in the end I'd rather have more picks than less.

Robinson is just a hair under 5'11 as well.
