Pitts not sure that, in the end, Salaam will choose to sign, even given the opportunity. Pitts does not feel the door is entirely closed for Salaam returning to the Texans.

If he sign with them I hope he excells. He was hard working OT and was solid as a starter. The Lions need players and I think Salamm can anchor there offensive line for a few years.

Why would the Texans cut him (they cut him, his contract wasn't up) at the cheap price his contract was at if they wanted to keep him around? He was only supposed to make around 900K in 2009 before they severed ties. That's hardly a lot for a veteran backup LT. I think Pitts is just being nostalgic.
Salaam's feelings were hurt when they handed the starting job to Duane Brown. He cried about it when it happened, and he cried about it near the end of the season on TV. I never had a problem with the guy. I think he's a solid backup - but I don't like whiners, and that's kind of what he turned into IMO. |

He was solid as a backup, though. |

He was a solid Starter. He played way more downs for us than he was originally brought in to play. He is past his prime. Way past. But I would feel better about having him on the team, should Duane not be up to the task of taking all the snaps with the first unit. Like he wasn't able to do this year.
Detroit would be stupid not to sign him. If things don't go well with Orlando, Salaam could play at a decent level. & Detroit needs to be looking under every "what-if" rock they can find right now.

If signed by Detroit, Salaam might be playing behind another rookie LT (though I hear Stafford is looking like the pick). If so, Salaam would become the Steve DeBerg of LTs.

The Lions did not sign Pace, the Bears did.

I don't think Stafford is going to be the pick. The Lions are not expecting there new head coach to lead them to the Super Bowl so the FO can/will wait till' next year to pick up a better QB. Most likely, the Lions will go LT because they have inherited former Seahwaks OLB Peterson's contract so Aaron Curry would not make any sense. Anyways, regardless I think Salamm still has talent and the ability to start and anchor there O-Line. Then I think the Lions well probably move Jeff Backus on the inside. |

Far the the Lions go they need help everywhere. I think personally they'll take a LT with one of the first two picks. Salaam is likely going to be seeing Deja Vu. |

Salaam seems like a great guy and he stepped in for us when Spencer went down. That said, he was not a solid starter. Any DE with speed ate his lunch in a big way. Obviously Kubiak has similiar thoughts by starting a rookie from day 1.
To me, Salaam is the Petey Faggins of OTs. A body to fill a spot until said spot is upgraded.
