http://walterfootball.com/draft2009.php
On walterfootball, Walter talks about an intriguing trade down situation with the Texans and the Eagles that makes sense, and I think it would benefit the Texans in a huge way. Texans receive - 21st and 28th overall picks Eagles receive - 15th and 46th overall picks What do you guys think about this scenario? |

21st pick in first round and the 14th in 2nd? Think I'd do that. That's better than 3rd and 6th imo.

I think there is a huge difference between the 28th and 46th pick! If the Texans had the 28th as their 2nd pick, instead of hoping for a certain player to drop to them in the 2nd round, now they can pretty much knowingly get that player, or maybe even get a player they have rated higher.

That would be interesting put us in a position to definitly grab someone instead of just hoping they fall to us.

Take Clay Matthews #21 if he's there and take either Darius Butler or Alphonso Smith #28.
I would rather we keep #15 though as long as we get Malcolm Jenkins.

Im not really a fan of trading down. I understand why we did it last year b/c of the schaub trade, with that extra pick got us Speed Slaton. But since we have all of our picks plus the extra 4th, i say leave it be.

I'd make that trade in a second 21 and 28 would be great to have but I doubt seriously if Philly would make that trade, they'd lose out in that trade. We could go with either Alphonso Smith or Darius Butler at #21 and then Patrick Chung at #28. Those 2 picks would help our secondary immensly. |

I'm not sure I'd do this deal. However, I would have to give it serious consideration. My intial reaction would be to ask for #21, #83 (3rd), & #121 (4th) for our #15, but if I felt I could bluff New England into giving up two of their three 2nd round picks (#47 & #58) for the #28 by indicating I was going to take Conner Barwin, then I'd do it. Also, I wouldn't want to trade all the way back to #28, unless I got a solid 2nd round pick to go with it. In other words, #28 & #52 for #15. Dropping back to #21 still leaves us some quality talent to choose from & the option to make another trade down if we want to.

What this move would tell me is that both teams have someone targeted who is not on thier respected MS boards wish list. That would suggest to me that Reid is going to relent and give the QB a weapon.....and someone who can keep the chains moving if the water bug, Westbrook is dinged.....Percy Harvin ? Iggles fans would scream for sure.
On the Texans end...Looks like Duane Brown Part Deux. Sidbury, Barwin, Petigrew. And Walter, they passed on a three last year for rosenfeld....have to be more than equal for the Texans to budge. With the stroid rummor....Cushing and Mathews will surly fall now. They could have their pick of either one. Have to give them a motive to move back.
