Houston Texans Depth Chart ~ Updated

On defense, Antonio Smith will play at DLE with Mario Williams on the opposite side. The DTs will be Amobi Okoye at DRT and Travis Johnson at DLT. The LBs will consist of Xavier Adibi, DeMeco Ryans, and Zach Diles. In the backfield, the Texans will start Dunta Robinson, Jacques Reeves, Nick Ferguson, and Eugene Wilson at there respective positions.

I dont know if I would consider Yahoo's depth chart official.

I don't like how they list the positions down, they're all scattered and not really in order how I view it.

What happened to Brian Pittman? I thought he was our longsnapper.

He's a UFA, and I don't expect us to sign him. Clark Harris did a GREAT job while he was gone, and Harris is younger, cheaper, AND more versatile as he plays TE also.

Updated? That's basically the same starting 11 we had last year. (Not all started to gether due to injuries, but the 11 guys there are all starters.)

They don't think we'll draft a starter on defense in round 1?

This is of course, not including any draft picks just the FAs and current squad.

If everybody on that defense is healthy it's really not a bad unit.

We never got to see Adibi, Diles, and Dunta on the field at the same time last year. Add Smith, with a healthy Okoye, and Ryans, then we're looking at an average unit that is young and improving even before we draft anybody.

I graded the Texans at the end of the season here.

I would grade Antonio Smith as a B-, who will be replacing Anthony Weaver(D+). Which would improve the unit to a B- overall.

The Texans need to plug a few weak spots like CB/SS, and they will be pretty good. I wouldn't mind seeing Malcolm Jenkins and Mike Hamlin in those spots. Beyond that I think we mostly need depth and situational players. I'd still prefer to get a big 330 lbs NT but it doesn't seem the Texans are going that direction.
