Default Georgia: Sights and sounds from Pro Day

Verron Haynes was part of a 2002 draft class that included Charles Grant, Randy McMichael, Tim Wansley, Jermaine Phillips and Terreal Bierria.

His pro day paled in comparison to the turnout of NFL scouts that showed up Thursday to see a group of former Bulldogs led by Matthew Stafford and Knowshon Moreno.

“It’s incredible,” the fullback said. “I counted just about every team. Kudos to the program and the players and all their accomplishments.”

Haynes is hoping to hook on again in the NFL. Smart move to be at Georgia, where he could network with plenty of NFL personnel on hand.

The Detroit Lions contingent included general manager Martin Mayhew, quarterbacks coach Jeff Horton and senior personnel executive James Harris.

Houston Texans defensive coordinator Frank Bush, an Athens native, also was on hand, as was Minnesota vice president of player personnel Rick Spielman.

Knowshon Moreno improved his 4.62 40 to 4.58.

I like Ellerbe, but I reckon he could be had the 2nd day.

I wonder if D-Ryans would approve picking a Bulldog. LOL
