best underrated/ worst overrated

wondering since there isn't much going on in the nfl these days who do ya'll consider the best underrated players...here is my list

underrated/overrated
qb: trent green/michael vick(one season and he's the best player period...nah)
rb: warrick dunn/clinton portis
te: freddy jones/jeremy shockey
wr: chris chambers(although he has yet to grasp his full potential)/t.o
ot: marc colombo/orlando pace(ogden, walter jones, and roaf are better)
g: dan neil/larry allen
c: steve mckinney(he's a good center who doesn't get any recognition)/jeremy newberry

de: marcus wiley/simeon rice
dt: sam adams/booger mcfarland(both him and rice had things easy with sapp in the middle)
olb: levar fisher/levar arrington
ilb: al wilson/jermiah trotter
cb: marcus coleman/charles woodson
fs: darren sharper/deon grant
ss: corey chavous/darren woodson

Warrick Dunn underrated? You do know how badly the Falcons over-paid for him when he was a FA a few years ago, right, I'd say they overrated him. He hasn't even cracked 1,000 yards since 2000 when he was still in Tampa, and that was his carreer high with 1100. Plus he isn't getting any younger at 29 years old, he spends more time on the IR than on the field.
I like the guy, but I would say he is FAR from underrated.

I also disagree with you saying Simeon Rice and Booger McFarland are the most overrated players at their posistion, I would say they are among the best at their posistion. They will prove that with Sapp's departure this season.

But everything else looks pretty good.

I think Vick is overrated too, but I do not agree that Portis and TO are overrated.

Portis has 3099 yards over 2 years, thats over 1500 a season, and 29 TDs, an average of 15 TDs a season and almost 1 per game. Dont say that it is the line, you have to have talent to put those numbers up.

T.O. has had 4 1000 yards seasons in a row and has had 51 recieving TDs in that span and 1 rushing for good measure.

I also think that LT doesnt get enough credit, so he would be my underrated back.

I think a more underrated rb is Fred Taylor. He's had two straight injury free and productive seasons and everyone either keeps saying he's injury prone or just says nothing. Much more underrated than Dunn.

portis not overrated...come on he's be running behind one of the better o-lines in the country and his division as some of the worst run-stopping defenses in the league...and shannahan is known for making mediocre runningbacks 1,000yd backs...it's the system...which is the same reason i have t.o as being overrated...he's in a west cost style offense...his division doesn't have the best db's around...don't get me wrong they are both very good and probably the top five of at their position maybe they aren't overrated but they are definetly overhyped

and your right LT doesn't get the credit he deserves...he is still yet to make the pro bowl...tell what's up with that

keyshawn johnson gets my nod as overrated. Yet, Johnson is one of those guys that will go over the middle

I think Jamie Sharper should be on the list as an underrated player. He should have played in the Pro Bowl last year.

Its always the system or other players or other defenses. With you thinking, Terrell Davis is overrated. Got to the Hall of Fame because of the Denver system. Got 2000 yards because of the Denver system.

Was the reason Carr threw for over 4000 yards and 40 TDs his senoir system because of the system or because of skill?

Was it the system that allowed TO to make that unbelievable TD off of the end around 2 years ago. Remember that play. TO moves in motion from left to right, Garcia hands the ball of to TO, TO is looking to pass, no one open downfield, makes one DE miss, then makes a LB miss, takes the ball upfield, cuts across the field right to left, breaks a couple of more tackles and runs in for the 30 TD. That is not the "system." That is skill and talent.

Now some of it is the system, but you cant give all the credit in the world to the "system." That means no one deserves any credit. Portis has 3000 yards rushing over 2 year, 3000 yards. We barley got in total offense our inagural year. A guy has to make the system work. If it is the system, they why cant the 49ers have the same offensive success with Dorsey and Woods that they had with Garcia and TO.

I have to disagree as well, I think TO and Portis are both exceptional talents at their respective positions. Alot of people give TO guff because he's a "cancer" in the locker room. We've all seen his tirade's on the sidelines, but more importantly we've all seen his jaw dropping plays that vastly outnumber the bad incidents. As for Portis, I've seen enough of him to make me believe he's one of the best in the business.

Also, I'd definitely list Jamie Sharper as underrated too. He was robbed of his ticket to Hawaii last year, IMO.

Did Terrell Davis get into the Hall of Fame? I didn't know that. I thought he didn't have enough productive seasons to make it in.

Clinton Portis was the best college running back the Broncos have drafted in ages. He did very well in college. He will be a star for Washington too.

The Broncos' "system" only accounts for so much. You have to have some semblance of talent too. T. Davis would have done well elsewhere after his Denver years if he hadn't had that career-ending condition. Now Olandis Gary was a product of the system. He had a 1000 yard rookie season and hasn't been heard of since.

Terrell Davis last played in 2001. I believe players must be out of the league for five years before they are Hall of Fame eligible.

The 2000 yard season may get him there, but he really only had three great seasons. It is kind of like the Boselli situation--great but short career due to injury--will it be enough?

I don't think Terrell Davis is a sure shot for the Hall of Fame. He was terrific but I question the longevity of his career. I'm just not sure about the HOF.

The superbowls help him and we can agure if he is a hall of famer all day long, but my point was that Davis was a great back and keyfro implied that he was just a product of the Denver system.

You can be in a position friendly system all day long but if you don't have skills then you won't produce. I would have to say that in Denver's case it's not so much of being a RB friendly system as Denver is pretty good at picking up quality RBs and developing them.
