Tons of draft watchers consider Orakpo, Brown, and Maybin to be 3-4 OLBs instead of 4-3 ends, so they categorize them accordingly.

There happen to be several tweeners in this years draft. Mayock said of the top 4 tweeners, Orakpo would be the only one that could possibly keep his hand on the ground as a 4-3 DE.
I've said this many times, but if I'm not reading this board for draft info. I'm listening/watching Mayock. The guy works his ass off at what he does and I think he's the best.

Mike Goodson as his #5 RB? interesting. Andre Smith #3 ranking doesn't really surprise me. The Tackles this year seem to be all interchangeable depending on team and need. J. Smith and Monroe could be better LTs than A. Smith (great RT?) so that could be something he sees. Michael Bennett #4 DE? interesting. I think Mayock probably just finished watching some Big XII film or at least ATMs.

Andre Smith should of went to the senior bowl and dispelled any rumors about being vulnerable to quick first step guys. He got some real bad advise from his agent. Probably cost the kid five to ten million dollars. When the NFL asks you to compete you go and compete. I think Crabtree is getting the same kind of bad advise, bab ankle and all. I read Andre Smith as lot like our Duane Brown... devastating run blocker....not as good as Joe Thomas as a pass blocker. Very Worthy of a top ten pick. I could damn sure make him work at OLT.
A lot of people see Orakpo as the second coming of Demarcus Ware in the 3-4. But out of Mayock's own lips....he can play DE in the 4-3.

TTP
Andre Smith couldn't play in the senior bowl. He was a junior & wasn't allowed to play. |

Oh I gotcha. I was going off the original list posted. Brown isn't listed on Mayock's top 5 DEs or top 5 OLBs.
I see your link has Brown as the #4 of 4 "OLBs that can also play DE". Maybin sure does look quick. I wonder how adding some weight and going through NFL strength and conditioning program will affect him.

Don't know who this guy is, but he seems like an ***** to me.
Michael Bennett #4 DE!? I'm sorry did you watch cfb last year? A&M had one of the worst defenses in the country and Bennett wasn't even the best DE on the team anyway. See Cyril Obizor.

Mayock is one of the more highly regarded draft analysts because he actually watches player film, unlike Kiper and McShay who just go by what other people are telling them.
