I really like Raji b/c he has great size and quickness, very good at stopping the run but possesses an uncanny ability to get in the backfield for a guy his size. I've read different different reports on his actual TFL and sacks for the season (nfldraftcountdown is on the high side of those). 16 TFL and 8 sacks, he's just overshadowed Brace.

Agreed Ron Brace would be a good pick up in 2nd/3rd... maybe even 4th? but, to me, he seems much more one dimensional than Raji.

I will agree with that, Brace is more like a 3rd to 4th round NT. Not a 1st round type.

My question and no one will know the answer for some time, which guy benefited more from playing next to the other.

I would love to get both guys. I like DTs like the Jags had a few years ago, big and quick. Makes the OL pick a medicine, only one can be doubled, and that is what a defense should do, make the offense adjust to you not you adjust to the offense.

Brace is not an option IMO. I dont see him getting drafted before the 5th round. He is pretty much just a big body. Doesnt get pushed back but that is about the extint of his abilities. We already have Okam for that.

Raji flat out dominates at times. Like I have said many times, I doubt he is still around at 15. If he is I cant imagine anyone else available that could make the impact for us that he could. For all those who want Haynesworth you need to watch some Raji highlights. He is like a young Hanesworth without the baggage. If we could draft him and get Peppers or Suggs in FA our DL would be set for years.

Of course this is assuming we get a DC that wants these type of plyers. I cant for the life of me imagine a coach that wouldnt want a 330 DT who can collapse the pocket and get to the QB.

Boston College DT B.J. Raji, whose first name, Busari is Nigerian for bliss, is one of the prospects who's stock is rising by the minute. Raji was dominant for the majority of his senior season and led one of the best defenses in the nation. Fortunately he was able to play this year because last year he had to sit out (redshirt) due to an error in counting his credits, which shouldn't hurt his draft status. Raji learned a lot about himself and what he was capable of during that time, he could still practice with the scout team and he soon was wrecking havoc on the first-team offensive line. Raji's weight prior to his junior season shot to over 350 pounds at one point. Head Coach Jeff Jagodzinski was adamant about B.J. getting down to the 320-330 range by the season's start and B.J. did just that. By the time his senior year began Raji was ready to prove to his family, coaches, teammates, and the rest of the college football world that he wasn't another lost prospect.

Raji is the type of defensive tackle who can play in the 3-4 or 4-3 which will only enhance his draft status. Earned 1st team All-ACC honors his senior year while being the main cog in the #5 ranked defense in the nation. Boston College also ranked #1 in the ACC in total defense as well as 1st against the run to include one of Raji's most dominant performances against Maryland which they gave up a net gain of -6 yards rushing. B.J. projects very well to the next level. Raji faced some adversity already in his young career and overcame that with flying colors. He is mentally tough. Coming from a family that migrated here from Nigeria has contributed to his work ethic which he gets from his father, who is about to receive his doctorate in theology and divinity. I don't know about you, but to me that is just an added bonus for this young man. He knows what hard work is, so he will continue to get better at the next level.

At the point of attack Raji has tossed lineman around at times this past season. Gets up field in a hurry and will pursue the ball until the whistle. Blessed with fluid hips for a man his size, has a pretty good spin move to go with his signature bull rush. Raji can control the line of scrimmage and read/react very well. Although his stamina was in question during his freshman and sophomore years, he has shown no signs of early fatigue during his senior campaign.

Raji is equally good against the run as he is the pass. he lacks an arsenal of pass-rush moves, but that can be fixed with proper coaching. He also misses the easy tackle on occasion which also can be fixed through the right coaching. If Raji gets under the tutelage of a top defensive line coach and/or coordinator he can become scary for offenses to deal with. Due to Raji's lack of experience he would benefit greatly by this as well as being apart of a rotation instead of being 'the guy' right away. Raji was able to produce at a very high rate this year without missing a game. Raji is the total package and should be a very good player on the next level.

325 pound (plus) defensive tackles with his quickness, strength and athletic ability don't come around every year and Raji will probably get drafted much higher than what most people think, he could even be off the board at the 10-15 range in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft.

Though I agree, my thinking here is that we have a possible franchise LT in Brown. He wasn't all-world last year but he was solid as a rookie in a very tough division for tackles.

We don't have a franchise CB, which has become the most critical position on the field besides QB.

If we grab Oher, where do we put Brown? If we grab Jenkins, this team has solid talent and depth at CB for really the first time in franchise history.

Teams do it with franchise LT's, franchise QB's, franchise whatevers all the time if they feel like they have a young prospective whatever on the roster already.

I'd love to add Oher as our LT and move Brown to RG or RT. That would really mask Myers deficiencies and we'd have a KILLER running game.

With that said, I think they go BPA and that would be Malcolm Jenkins. I'd be totally on board with this pick b/c he's just so talented and would make our secondary great. I actually think he could easily be the first 'D' player taken in the draft though.

IMO, Jenkins is the top CB to come out since Newman in 2003.

He is the best tackler and best cover guy of all the CBs in this draft. Complete package.

Don't get me wrong, I think the guy is a hell of a receiver and I think he will excel in the NFL but I just don't think he has the kind of straight line speed that is going to dazzle the scouts at the combine.

I have a gut feeling that his stock is going to take a big hit after he gets clocked at the combine or on his pro day.

Everyone of the GM's has the image of him shaking off the Texas defenders and winning the game with an exhausted clock branded in their brains. He ain't getting out of the top ten. Even if he runs a 4.6. Remind us all again what Jerry Rice ran at the combine ? The guy's got skills.

That's nice beerlover....but once you get past a certain level, like the first forty six picks....there are only so many first step guys on the board. Unless the scouts find some Gem in the third round or later....or they free agent the pass rusher....you ain't getting one if you BPA the first two rounds. And this regime cannot go into '09 with out one.Whether it's a LB they can blitz or a smaller DE with a first step, they've got to have one. They'll gamble if they have to....but they have to have one if they are to have any chance at winning the division in '09. And everyone over on Kirby should know that.

15 Houston Texans: Vontae Davis, CB, Illinois
This could be a spot where the Texans trade down. Their greatest needs this offseason are strong safety, guard, nose tackle and a 4-3 end to complement Mario Williams. Taking the best player at each of those four positions would be reaching.

If Houston can't find a trading partner, they may look at Vontae Davis. You can never have enough talented corners, and it's not like the Texans couldn't use an upgrade at the position. Davis is probably the top player available anyway, so I think this is Houston's best option considering the circumstances.

Brian Dawkins is adored by all Eagles fans, but the future Hall of Fame free safety turns 36 in October. Even if Dawkins re-signs with Philadelphia, the team will need to find his successor soon because he's somewhat of a liability in coverage. It's clear that Quintin Demps isn't the answer after his horrific performance in the NFC Championship.

Louis Delmas has really shined at the Senior Bowl and put himself into first-round consideration.
