Spikes is a very good LB for Florida and will be a 1st round draft pick.
He is one out of 3 LB's I would really like the Texans to draft of Mays and Orakpo aren't there at 15. Spikes is a big and man and gritty LB that talks the talk and walks the walk. He kind or reminds me a little of Joey Porter. Watch him tonight and let's see how he does against this dynamic Oklahoma defense. |

I just wanted people to keep a close eye on Spikes, because he very well could be sitting right there at 15 when we're picking. |

I was really excited to watch Spikes and Duke Robinson. Robinson, IMO had a flop of a game. Getting called for penalties, I think Stoops even took him out of the game for a while.
First play of the game (I think?) Spikes came out of the gate for a big TFL or something. I thought he had a pretty good game, but didn't really focus too much on the game. I saw he had a few lazy pursuits to the ball carrier because he just expected the OLB to push him out of bounds. I like Spikes a lot but wish he would have hustled the entire time. Tebow had some sloppy sloppy throws. Bradford's INT's weren't his fault too much but Tebow was telegraphing a lot of his throws. Pretty good game though.

The OU DT McCoy was awesome...........in the 1st half. I don't really like either team, but OU's defense fell apart in the 2nd half. Hell, so did their running game.
Overall, I wasn't entirely impressed with anybody in the game. Not for the Texans sake anyway.

Major Wright was really impressive to me - the guy can lay the wood.
I was lukewarm on Spikes until this game, but now I can see why people are up on him. Still though, I think he's a bit too slow and limited in pass coverage to be a first round pick for us. If we take a LB in the first I want someone who can do it all - stop the run, defend the pass and blitz - not some big, banger who has limitations. |

Spikes is a good player, but I would pass on him in the 1st round.
I thought Bradford was the best player on the field. He was consistently hitting his WR's hands pass after pass. After Major Wright got that big hit on the sideline in the first quarter, all of OU's WR's started looking for him instead of concentrating on the ball. I counted about seven drops by OU, including the second INT. The only mistake I thought Bradford made was the first INT. It was a fluke pick (bounced off four or five different bodies), but he shoulda just thrown it out the back of the endzone and taken the field goal. |

If Brandon Spikes somehow fell to us in the Second round I'd be all over him.

We may have a shot at Sean Weatherspoon in round 2 the way it looks now, but the combine will tell all as far as player ratings

For an All-American, OU's LG played like an A&M lineman. OU's LT was rock solid, but when Bradford had someone chasing him, I always saw the LG "running" behind him.

In the couple of OU games I watched this season, I was underimpressed by Duke. He is being overrated due to the play of the 2 guys next to him IMO.

Not at all. Loadholt has major trouble with a pass rusher across from him. The OU center is nothing special at all. The guys next to Robinson look a lot better because of him. Yes, Robinson had a down game with some mental mistakes. However, he did a good job with protection. The pressure that came up the middle was the C not being able to get back to his position. Robinson would often be isolated with his man and attempt to clip the blitzer. I think Robinson's stock will drop a little bit, but he is the only interior I can see with first round potential.
