rd7 Kevin Grady RB Mich. Big back started over Mike Hart as freshman, had ACL surgery after JR. year, should be completely healthy

I know I have taken 3 guys with injury histories but Byars has been healthy all year & I am hoping to hit on our 6th & 7th rd. picks. If they dont pan out we really haven't lost much. Grady & Toal were highly rated until they got injured.

Let me know what you think. I'm doing this because I'm bored & thought it might stir up some draft talk debate.

Well I liked the Lugis pick. Toal I think willl fall because of the injury history. I have no problem rolling the dice on him as a free agent and IRing him though.

Look they either got get better at rushing the passer or more atheltic in the back seven. I picked Curry...because over five years we send five or six and no one gets there. Maybe Adibi changes this. So far I haven't seen it.

Or...they've got to get a top flight pass rusher to take some of the load off of
Mario. Assume the worst until you see him play...Diles isn't going to be on line at the start of the '09 season. To proceed asumming anything else, puts us in the same hole as were we at the begin of this season.

My vote for Curry & Orakpo, is saying one of these guys will solve that problem. Orakpo is moving up the boards. I wouldn't be shocked if he goes off just befor us. Lot of tweeners on the board...we may luck out if the three four teams gamble on the quantity of them and select for another hole. If Orakpo is on the board when they come up, you grab the guy. No matter what anyone offers you, you grab the guy.

I'm a UT fan but after seeing E. Brown I believe I would like to see him taken over Orakpo. He has less of an injury history & reminds me of Charles Haley or Freeney.

I believe Orapko will be a great pro but his injury history scares me.

I like Curry alot aldo & wouldn't be upset if we took him. If you noticed I fiiled Diles spot with Peterson.

I want to see more of Molden bcause if he can play one CB spot we would only need to fill one CB spot in FA. Although if we signed two CB's that would be a good thing.

It would make my day if I never saw Petey or Reeves in a Texan uni. again.

We should be able to grab two really nice defensive players in the first two rounds if that is the route we choose to go. It is so nice to actually have that 2nd rounder, we have traded away waaaaay too many of those picks.

I like the Luigs, Byers, and Brace picks but I think that each of them will go one round higher than you have them. I don't care for your first 2 picks though, we can do better. I think that Brown is too light weight, he'll probably be a better OLB on a 3-4 team and I'm not familiar with Jones at all. I'd like to see us choose Orakpo or Johnson in the first and then Myron Rolle, Kam Chancellor, or Patrick Chung or the best SS/FS prospect in the second round. Luigs and Byers would sure help out our O-line and I've heard good things about Brace for the DT position. I like your way of thinking though with fixing both lines and building the foundation for a good team.

I think Brace & Byars both will go in the 4th rd. I believe we should try to make a deal to get another 4th rd. pick & draft both of them.

If I had to choose between them I would take Brace (Less injury risk) We need to get bigger @ DT I am sick of seeing other teams run up the gut on us & we cant stop them.

Jones is a great player on a bad team. He is very atheletic, has great character, is 300 lbs & has a frame to add more weight. He was the best player on the field against Notre Dame last weekend.

These two DT's along with Okoye & drafting E. Brown would solidify our DL for years. IMO

I dont think so .... there are too many players coming out who rate very close together at the top to move up. There isnt that one guy who stand out so far above the others that says " You Have To Have Me" to give up a #2.

I dont know if I was able to get Curry & E. Brown in the 1st & get Brace in the 4th I might trade a 09 2ND & a 10 1st to move up & get another 09 1st.

The reason for this would be that I know that if I dont win in 09 I'm going to be fired, so the 10 1st would mean nothing to me.

Depends on #2 and what? Say a 7 or six rd. I do that. This draft is loaded with safe palyers at the top. If you can get 2 starters out the first round (IMO thats likely) only giving up a #2 and say a 6th, its worth it to me.

Any one of these guys come in and start for us. Except Bradford. But IMO would own the job fairly soon.

It would cost more than a #2 to move back into the first round , most likely a #2 & #3 .

I really think that staying put in the second is the way to go as someone is going to fall because there are just so many players rated closely from the middle of the first round to the middle of the second. I dont think the difference in quality is quite worth giving up what its going to take to move back up.

If the Texans end up with a top 8 pick , I think the way to aquire that extra player is to drop back to the middle of the first round picking up an added second which gives them three of those players who grade out pretty close to the top rather than just two.

Pettigrew is a stud (one of my favorite offensive players in this draft), thats for sure, the team that lands him will be happy .... I just dont think the Texans can afford to spend a #1 on a TE.

As for Sam Bradford , I have to pass on him , I'm not sold on any of the QB's in this draft being quality NFL players much less spending a #1 on him.

The free agent no one seems to talk about is Lawernce Maroney. He doesn't fit the Pats spread offense and I don't see them keeping a highly-paid RB on their roster when they barely use any RB at all.

He's hurt this year but when he's healthy he would be a great 1-2 with Slaton

#1 - the odds are against the Texans moving a package of picks they cannot afford to do that. more likely they trade down as you suggest.

#2 - don't fight your feelings about a player if you think he is bpa or lock to star in the league. Pettigrew is the most complete TE to come along in years, what makes him so special is his blocking ability offering a lock-down solution in tandem with the LT to thwart any pass rush off the edge, then he can not only catch in traffic he is a beast to take down in the open field or defend in the red zone. Sam Bradford is a fierce competitor, great measureables, leadership, pocket presence & mobility. I could see Sage leaving via trade or free agency & Matt fullfilling the back-up role with a restructed contract.

#3 - keep an open mind & all options available, if you have a chance to select more than one or two starters in one draft measure up the risks & roll the dice.

1. While I agree with you if my job was on the line & I needed to trade a 2010 1st & a 2009 2009 2nd to get what I believe would be an impact player I would do it. It would help save my job.

2. If they have a conviction about a player they should take him regardless of position.
Example Willis over Okoye depth is a good thing. Trade bait is a great thing to have.
Imaginne having Ryans & Willis then trading Greenwood for a 4th. which was his value @ that time. Think OD

I believe all of the best personnel guys get 2 impact players & 4 starters out of each draft. They hope to get 3 impact players & 3 special team players in each draft.
