You might hate David Carr, you might hate the coaches, But did anyone see the way the defense played Sunday. A geritol eating QB with the 2nd worst team in football ate our lunch. I saw more QB pressure at the first football game I played and I was 7 years old. We desparately missed Antwan Peek and thats a fact. When he is in he takes away 2 or 3 blockers which frees up others to get into the backfeild.
If He was on another team he would have started this year, I know he was hurt but I think he needs more playing time for sure.

Peek plays with lots of emotion. That's something this team has lacked every time they come out flat.

Kelly Holcomb had a quarterback rating of 75.1, with only 228 yards passing. They also only gave up 1 TD, but got 2 inceptions. "Ate our lunch" ... I don't think so. Also, the Browns started drives on: - their own 40, 41 and 46 yard lines, plus - the Texans 40 and 25 yard line (I didn't include the onside kick) In spite of the great field position that the Browns enjoyed, the Texans defense held them to only one touchdown. I love Antwaan Peeks. I saw him play when he was at Cinci. I just don't see the logic of attacking the very people who were savy enough to draft him for handling him carefully. I guess I would specifically respond to you "He would start for any other team" by simply saying "No other team drafted him." That's the fact. |

I like Peek, I personally would like to see Peek, Wong, Sharper and Babin in the line up, now I know a lot of people are gonna say that Wong doesn't do good as an ILB but in my opinion You put your playmakers on the field as much as possible. Wong is giving the pass rush that we need on the oustide but I do like him as a cover guy and playmaker, with Wong and Sharper making plays for us also Babin and Peek rushing the QB..Now that I think about we should run the 4-3 defense that....
DE A. Peek DT R. Smith DT G. Walker DE J. Babin. LOLB K. Wong MLB J. Sharper ROLB Whoever they want to put here, upgrade in the draft or free agency. CB A. Glenn CB D. Robinson FS Thomas Davis/ Darnell Bing/ Shazor SS E. Glenn/ J. Simmons Tell me that doesn't look good, and if you do then you obviously have no idea what you are talking about.

Looks like you left out Coleman as a safety. We did resign him earlier this season, and I'd expect him to be a starter next year.

Regarding the FS position, Marcus Coleman signed an extension during the season. He'll be back as the starter next year, so I can't see the Texans taking a safety early in this draft.

Oh yeah he wouldn't hold up would he... wait didn't he post double digit sacks for like 2 straight years at W. Michigan... Oh yeah he sure did.
and wait didn't peek post 9 sacks his final year at Cincy, he looked like he help up pretty nicley and yeah it's the NFL, Babin's almost 260 how much difference does 40 lbs make when the defenders is more tenacious, stronger and faster than the lineman. Kearse is at 263 so does 4 lbs make that much of a difference. Peek is so fast and expolsive that he doesn't need to be as heavy as the normal DE cause of his intensity and quickness. Man a 4-3 would be hot why not let those guys get back to what made them professionals and that's a 3 point stance, then a bull rush, a spin or swim move to put some poor QB's face in the dirt.

Well it makes a lot of sense to me.
Walker and Smith provide a strong Rush Defense and with Sharper behind them why would the Run Defense still hold up. As far as them and rushing the passer I think they just have to get used to being back down in the 3 Point and it will be much better. If we get a solid LOLB to complete the LB Core we'd be good to go.. But you could be right I think it's worth a try in my opinion though, cause you just never know what could happen.. Could be like the 2003-2004 Panthers line all over again..

Well I think you mistralled again
Peek has been very productive with the few plays he has gotten. He needs more time on the feild. He has caused fumbles, blocked kicks, snagged a passed ball, run a fumble back for a TD. I believe thats defensive terms for hitting the cycle. The Team showed it had improved and then just let the air out. On the games it improved we got a little Peek at why. He wasn't the only reason but he gave 200% every down when I do not think 1 player gave it 100% against the Browns.

All this talk of Peek playing hard and being needed is probably true. All this talk of drafting other LBs to play outside and leaving Peek as a situational player is crazy. Either Peek starts in '05 or he will be the next Steve Foley, leave, make more money, and be a great player. Say what you want about his "excessive energy" but this team needs it. And if he leaves the texans ever, I guarantee he would get at least 2 sacks on carr his first game against them.
