I did not watch the game today. That is the first time EVER that I have not seen a game in person or on TV. When I lived in New York for a few years, I would often be the only guy in a sports bar watching our games decked out in Texans gear. I was mocked at times but still endured the **** being fed us and still was there backing the team even during the nightmare 2-14 season. This year to me is worse than that. At least back then we knew Capers and Casserley would be gone. We don't have that this year and to me the culture of losing and suckiness is and endemic problem in the way too corporate, sterile culture that McNair has created.
Spent some time with family who were in town, went grocery shopping at the new awesome H-E-B on I-10 and Bunker Hill, and spent time with the wife who was happy that I wasn't an emotional wreck after watching another Texans loss. Thanks McNair, Kubiak, Sage, etc. You turned a die-hard Texans fan who lived and breathed with the Oilers and the abortion of a franchise we have now to one that was extremely happy to have not watched the game today. EPIC FAIL on all of the Texans for doing this to me. Think how much of the fan base has tuned out to them because of the eternal suck of Texans football. Now, I am still a fan and will play out the string and watch and attend the rest of the games. I boycotted today's game for my own sanity and to realize that there are a lot more pleasurable things to do on a Sunday than to watch the same **** repeat itself every FRIGGING YEAR. Don't get me wrong, my ideal way to spend a Sunday is to watch the Texans at Reliant or on TV for road games. When they win and have me believe it feels better than virtually anything. Damn them for not giving this town the winner it deserves. Last edited by TexansFight; 11-16-2008 at 07:08 PM. |

glad you made that bet with the Dalai Lama...you seem at peace as Kubiak's karma runs over McNair's dogma.

TexansFight, you act just like someone calling the suicide hot line.
If you were really serious about "saving your sanity" from all the misery a certain football team lays on you, you'd give serious thought about what you spend your spare time. You only have one life to live. ACT LIKE IT. |

This is about the time of year I stop caring about the Texans. Normally by this time of the season the Texans have already stopped caring themselves so I tend to follow suit. Today I was not emotionally invested in the game. When Rosenpick threw that last INT I was not only expecting it, I called it out loud a play before it happened. Honestly when it happened I just laughed it off with little negative emotions.
Fortunately for me I have another team I root for on Sundays and they are actually entertaining to watch. It was kinda nice watching them blow out the Ravens after watching the Ravens blow out the Texans the week before. |

I stayed reserved today, I didn't jump and scream when Slaton ran in that long TD (normally I would), I didn't lose it at some of the bad calls. I was calm and relaxed throughout the game no matter how it went. I was prepared for the rest and try to talk myself into having that attitude for the whole game. Not too many ups or too many downs, just even keel. And then Sage threw that pick at the end of the game and I punched my wall and then the back of my couch pretty damn hard (my hand still hurts). My wife didn't watch the game so she wouldn't get upset and was impressed with how calm I was ......until Sage did what Sage does.
:sigh: if I can find a way to quit you Texans for at least a game or two it would really help out my stress level.

man you guys are something else. this team deserves better than the fan base it has..(if you want to call it that)....I watched this game, (and will watch every game, cuz I am a fan) it was great watching a rookie set a team record, running right at the D with smashmouth football, punching it in from the 1...twice...great game, yes they lost, yes the pick in the 4th hurt, suck it up, support your team, if you dont support them in the rough years...you have no right to cheer in the good years, and they will come. every week its the same whinny BS...all is lost, fire the coaches...blame faggins...my teams not winning....if it bothers you that much, give up your seats so real fans can attend. I am a fan, when they win, I sport the teams shirts, when they lose, I sport the shirts. I love this team, you "fans" need to show some backbone. GO TEXANS
