Aside from DD the Texans have nothin going on for themselves - Carr is extremely inconsistent, the play calling is way too conservative and the O-line simply sucks. Davis had a phenomenal year - 1700 yards from scrimmage and 15 TD's is tremendous.... congrats to Domanick - a very under appreciated and underrated back who isn't flashy but gets the job done. Next year is make or break for Carr - if he does not improve on throwin only 15 TD's then he could end up a NFL backup. Maybe Carr will end up in the CFL up here in arctic Canada.

DD is underrated, but David will have a hard time doing any better without some sort of o-line improvement.

I think Andre Johnson is pretty good.

I think teams know that that if they double AJ ..
Carr checks down to DD REALLY quickly and basically that is a running play and DD isn't going to break a long one. DD will get his yards but not enough of a threat to quit doubling Aj on running plays. see above and that is if the OL blocks

I know run blocking is different than pass blocking but Dominick had the same offensive line as Carr. I was a big Carr fan going into this season but I would have to say he was the biggest disappointment of the year. I expected a break out season and I know that the offensive line sucks but even when given time he made a lot of poor decisions with the football. I also think that next year will be a make or break year for Carr as well as the coaching staff.

DD stepped up and played like a man the second half of the season. Of course when this happened the passing game dropped off. What a season of inconsistency.

Carr threw for more than 1000 more yards then his previous career high. (11th in the league in passing yards) Carr threw more TDs then INTs this season. Carr was around 16th in the league in passer rating.

D was the only bright spot if you're talking about today's game...
AJ had a year to remember, but to also grow upon. Carr, next season is make or break for him. I really like the guy, but it seems as though he just doesn't have the complete package to make it as a prolific NFL quarterback. Maybe it is because of his O-line, but then, he does make bonehead plays. For example, scrambling out of the pocket and runs out of bounds for a loss instead of throwing the ball away. Defense came up huge this year. You can't take away the fact that the went 13 quarters w/o giving up a TD. I never saw that coming, and I don't think a lot of people did either. IMO, we need to focus on the O-line and getting 1 good receiver. Jabar doesn't have the breakaway speed, Bradford is getting older, Armstrong has potential, but not there yet. |

How can our RB have the same amount of receptions as our 2nd and 3rd reciever combined? How can Billy Miller catch about 1 pass a game when he is not a blocking TE??? I said it once and I'll say it again, when your RB is your top reciever, you have no game. In the immortal words of Willy Wonka, "It's ALL there, black-and-white, clear as crystal!"

Carr game stats
4 out of the first 7 games that the Texans played, Carr had a passer rateitng over 100. Dont you remember those days early this year when Carr was 2nd in the AFC in Passing? Oh yes those were the days with a healthy protecting offensive line. I belive that when given time Carr can be a top notch QB. Sure he makes dumb mistakes, just like every other QB in the league, excluding Peyton Manning, even Brett Farve throws ints to LBs while in his own redzone. but most teams have an offensive line that at least gives them a chance to get baxck in the game when the QBs messed up. Carr couldnt even have a 3 step drop this game with out someone in his face, and thats pitiful. I think if we can give Carr some time in the pocket that he can pick defenses apart. He has a Pro bowl WR, one of the best pass catching RBs in the NFL, one of the best receiving TEs in the NFL, a speedster in Bradford, a good route runner in Gaff, and a young playmaker in Armstrong.

I will have to agree with you except for the remark about the TE. Billy Miller is not even close to being one of the best receiving TEs in the NFL. Not when you're averaging 1 maybe 2 catches a game. |

teams have figured billy miller out. They know he is not going to be run blocking, so they have guys out to cover him. We need a dynamic TE who can at least block somewhat and be a good catching TE. Great examples are Ben Troupe, Dallas Clark, Jason Witten, Antonio Gates, Todd Heap, none are amazing blockers, all better than Billy Miller, and bigger targets. Billy Miller is almost just a big wide out, that is too slow.
Bubba Franks will be a free agent after this year, 26 years old, 6'5 265lbs, went to Miami (where AJ came from) and then spent 6 years playing with Favre, so is used to catching the rocket passes. If we get someone in the draft Heath Miller would be a nice pick or Alex Smith. If we want someone to be a blocker, lets sign Jason Peters to the practice squad or as a UFA, he was undrafted last year was the 6'5 320lb TE from Arkansas last year. Can be our blocking TE behind whomever. |

Would love to get Bubba, but he is too important to the GB offense for them to let him get away.

Well there's alot of talent, so many options but they just don't know how to use it. Hardly ever getting TE's into the game, and how long did it take for them to start going 3-4 wide and using shotgun for passing?... like the end of the year last 4/5 games or so.
