OK, so who's this Moats kid? Enquiring minds would like to know.
He didn't look bad in the few plays he got, granted it was in the fourth quarter of a blow out game. Still, if Ahman's deal with the injury devil is finally up we're going to need a guy like him. (or Darius?) |

Former Eagle RB/Special Teams player. I've seen him run well when he was with Phillly.

The one carry I saw from him today in the fourth quarter was a stretch play that he damn near broke for a big gain when everyone in the stadium knew they were gonna run the ball ..... I'd like to see more of him if for no other reason to know what he can give once AG is gone .... which I hope is next season. AG had a decent game today ..... but I'm waiting for him to hurt his groin again.

I'm excited about this guy. He was a 3rd rounder in 2005, great college career at La Tech, Philly drafted him thinking they might find another Westbrook type player. Seems like he got injured in either his 2nd or 3rd season or both and Philly lost patience with him. Obviously he isn't Westbrook but I think this guy can be a strong number two for us in the post Ahman Green world. Also wouldn't be surprised to see him do some return work, the dude is pretty fast. Actually he has a lot of similarities to Slaton.

I hope he works out.
We wont have to spend a draft pick on a RB. He was good in Philly but had injury problems. He did great things @ LA. TECH |

The Moats bandwagon is pretty lonely right now. It mostly consists of me and his third cousin on his mom's side.

Here is the wiki on him. I didn't even hear Darius was waived, always kind of liked him. Sure hope he gets picked up somewhere. Here's to the Moats era.

They didn't fill the slot that Moats vacated on the practice squad, so I imagine Walker will sign to the PS again if he doesn't get snatched up off the waiver wire.

I think he works his way into being the Texans kick-off retuner. adds depth to RB position, more explosive than Darius Walker.

Moats > Walker by any measure

I would agree with this. Kubiak stated in his PC that Moats can contribute more to special teams than Walker. From the small sample we saw from Moats, he definitely looks much quicker than Walker.
Walker's a likeable guy, but there comes a time when it's time to cut ties for good.

I think we need a power runner to spell Slaton more than a guy like Moats. A 1-2 punch with two different styles really seems to work well

I don't see why it should be one or the other. We still need a bigger back, but that doesn't mean we couldn't use another back with a similar skill set to Slaton.

Thats the a situation we did not get to see yesterday .... and a big concern for any back.
His stat line was 3/17/5.7 .... I only noticed him on the final series when everyone in the building knew the Texans were going to run the ball.

Moats was discussed a couple of weeks ago. The link is Jgl35's assessment of Moats whenever he was in Philadelphia: http://www.texanstalk.com/forums/sho...79&postcount=8

No, I'm pretty sure the nicely dressed couple reading the Oil and Gas Journal sitting in front of us did not know the Texans were going to run the ball.

I bet they are trying to get Sapp to do some short yardage stuff. If not, I say we let Leach go over the middle from the FB position on 3rd and short.
