In all seriousness, I really hope we (i) win more games for the sake of winning more games and being good and (ii) don't make top 5 so we dont have to pay a player such a high salary PLUS have a better chance of trading down with another team since nobody wants to pay the high price tag.

I don't know where they got the Texans opponents win % (.488) from. By my math it's more like .653 - that would put us in 7th (not 3rd).

Somebody check me, but I put our opponents at 17-9 overall. (w/ only the Fins having a losing record)

They're using the complete list of our opponents, not just those we've played.

Miami, Detroit, Cincinatti, Baltimore, Cleveland, Greenbay. Chicago, Oakland, Jacksonville, and Minnesota are all .500 or worse.

I'll take Beanie over Malcolm Jenkins any day. Same goes for Aaron Curry, take him over Jenkins any day.

I'd also take Alphonso Smith over Malcolm Jenkins any day. Smith has the knack for the position, Jenkins has the measurables. I have seen Jenkins get beat way too many times for me to enjoy us taking him at #10.

Obivously, I think Jenkins is far overrated. I'm also confused about the Michael Johnson #1 pick. He also has the measurables, but really hasn't been all that productive in college. I watch the ACC every week, and Georgia Tech quite often. You wouldn't notice the guy unless you knew about him being a top prospect. He's one of those guys you have to look for, rather than a guy who jumps out of the screen at you.

I'll tell you that I find it very hard to believe that Smith is the only offensive linemen taken in the top 15. Michael Oher and Eugene Monroe going 16+ are absolute STEALS for those teams.

I'm a really big defense fan and think we can/will have a killer defense in just a few more seasons, but with some of the OL talent this year, I think we can have our entire offense complete with a couple draft picks this year. I completely understand the notion that Gibbs can pick OL late or undrafted and make them miracle guys, but Gibbs isn't going to be here much longer at all. The popular belief is maybe only another season. With that said, I'd find it hard to pass on Mike Oher (did I miss Duke Robinson?) Add in that this year has the potential to have a VERY good Center class... it makes me think that the problems we've witnessed with Schaub and our OL could instantly disappear. Imagine drafting Oher to play LT, RT, LG or RG. He's that versatile. I don't know if you move Brown or Winston at all. Draft an elite Center in the 2nd or maybe the 3rd and move Myers to back up C and G. Our OL would be complete with bonafide STUDS, our WR's and TE's are awesome, and we've found lightening w/ Slaton. Again, our defense stinks right now so it'd be hard to pass on talent there. I'm not being a HUGE proponent of going offense early, quite the opposite 99% of the time, but something to think about.

Now onto the D. I think we could have a lot of great options sitting there at #10 and think that's probably about where we'll actually be. I'd be very tempted w/ Cody for DT- I like this guy alot. Assuming he declares early and he comes back from his injury w/o problems. Greg Hardy I think could be a great fit but he's coming off foot surgery that sidelined him the vast majority of the Bama game. Selvie is available, Mays/Moore...

I'm starting to think the safeties are going to drop (as usual) and we can get a solid guy in the 2nd/3rd. Jenkins may be able to play safety though? We have so many options and I really truly do trust Kubiak and Smith with these draft picks, it's so exciting.

OMT, I agree with most everything you just said. I'm also torn between finishing our Offense with a good draft or plugging some of the holes on our defense. I wouldn't mind taking Beanie Wells in the 1st and then taking one of the great centers in the 2nd and possibly a Guard in the 3rd thus completing our Thunder and Lightning running game and solidifying our pass protection. Our Offense would be done and set for years to come.

On defense I agree with your observations of Michael Johnson. He gets pushed out of position on running plays and seems to take plays off. I watched him in the GT vs. Clemson game and if a running play went away from him, he wouldn't make an attempt to chase down the RB from behind, he'd just quit. If a run play came to his side he was easily pushed out of position and couldn't get off of a block to get in on the play. Once in a while he'd pin his ears back and come really hard at the QB but then he'd take the next 4-5 plays off and just go through the motions with little to no effort. He may have all the measureables of an all pro DE but he sure don't seem to have the motor or heart. I'd really like to have Aaron Curry, Malcolm Jenkins, Vontae Davis, Cody, Orakpo, or Hardy but it's hard to decide where to start on a defense that has so many holes. As for Safeties I've been reading that Mays is overrated and I haven't seen alot from Moore either.

So where do we go with this draft? Do we finish our Offense or do we plug some of the holes in our Defense? Also what about free agency, who do we pursue and what positions to we attempt to fill?

OMT I agree. Every year the graft gurus get caught up in the offensive stats of the skill guys. There aren't any on the o-line play unless someone releases the grades of their game. And that doesn't happen very often. The lineman will start to move up the boards after the senior bowl.

I think Kubiack and Smith have a system and they are following it. Take bargains where you find them. Move down and garner picks where you can. I wouldn't fall in love with any of these guys. As someone has already posted the river of tallent this year will be deep and wide because of the CBA.

So far I've been dead wrong on Okoye. But I think Orakpo is so talented someone in the top ten will move up for him if he is still on the board @ five.

Two QBs in the first ten ? I don't know about that one. They'll be a herd of them on the board. K.C. and Minnie might bite the apple now that the front offices have taken a wrecking ball to the teams. I don't know for squat....but if Mack Brown is who I think he is....he's telling McCoy to come out. This could be the last year of the big contracts for the QB' s. Colt McCoy's value is never going to be higher than it is now. Anyone who has a grade of third round or better should come out this year.

I covet Orakpo. But if they moved down I wouldn't be disappointed with one hole plugged and extra picks in our pocket.

Weaver's gotta go. Greenwood's gotta go...anything beyond that is all gravy.

There's a DE for Boise that's caught my eye. Not a first rounder...but he's been productive in that conference. 44 for UCLA is an interesting FA/7th round guy. Stick him on the PS and see if he makes it. It would allow you access to an extra FB/HB guy with out carrying him on the roster. If the Hammer, Vonta Leach, gets hurt, our running game goes into the toilet.

Saw where The Boston College LB Toal is out for the season with an ankle. Make a prety good ST/ Back up for Diles and Demeeco. Another guy you could stock pile.

I think you're drafting another Darius Walker with Beanie Wells. For some one with reported 4.4 speed, he's slow to the hole. If he comes out, It'll be interesting to see what he runs, if he runs, the forty at the combine. I bet a coke he passes on the forty. We'll see how many twenty yarders Beanie tears off vs Penn St. Saturday. I also bet a coke that Green is still on the roster by August.

I like Brian Toal too.

There is no way he gets drafted since he has gotten injured like 12 years in a row.

Would be a nice FA acquisition after the draft though. See what he can do.

I've got a mancrush on Orakpo. I've tried to get over it but I can't. If I could have any one player from this draft that is the guy I would choose.

Me too. K.C. Makes a great trading Partner with Miami. I can see no way Parcells, if he has a say, will pass Orakpo. K.C. needs multipull picks with a board full of talented offensive lineman. Looks like match too me.

With the way the Texans are playing this year, I can see us drafting somewhere between 8-12 position. Also with as many holes as the Texans have on this team I can see them trading down with a team like Philly that has 2 first rounders or someone else and stockpiling lots of extra 2nd or 3rd round picks. By trading down, and this being most likely a pretty deep draft, the Texans should be able to fill lots of holes with good players and maybe a couple of real playmakers. Maybe losing an extra game or 2 wouldn't hurt.

I like what I have seen out of him as well, he seems to be exactly what we need opposite Mario.

I think we have to go defense in the first round this year. While a stud RB would be nice, we really need to add another cornerstone on defense. A safety, defense end, outside linebacker...something. We passed up an opportunity at Mendenhal last year, so I am not convinced that we will take a RB that high. Look at the value we got out of Slaton thus far. I think we will address RB somewhere around 2-4 just like last year. It'd be nice if we could pick up a guy with similar value as Slaton, but with a different skill set.

I've been lobbying for a safety for the last couple of years, but I don't know if there is a safety worth a top 15 pick in the draft.

Right now I like Aaron Curry in the first round for us. Perfect for our team IMO. He can bring an element of toughness that we need. Curry, DeMeco, and Adibi would be a respectable group of young linebackers, even if Adibi isn't a starter, he has talent. I still think we need to draft two outside linebackers in this draft. We still haven't finished moving from the 3-4, which also means we need defensive ends. I'd like to see the DE position addressed in the first 4 rounds.

If I had to pick a top 4 need by position it'd be:
