The Detroit game will be the introduction to the live game day experience for my 4 1/2 year old daughter Audrey, who is attending her very first major sporting event.
I'm looking for tips on what's available at the stadium for kids, like events, special offers, face painting, Toro, or just anything that may be useful or fun for us to see or do. Also, does anyone have any tips on buying Texans themed face paints, or temporary hair coloring or stuff like that? I know that if I was single, I'd take her around the tailgate and let her help me with the ladies, but alas, those days are behind me, and I will behave myself like a responsible adult. Bonus to anyone who can get her a few swings at a Lion pinata!

Michael-
The Coca-Cola Fan Zone is very family/kid friendly. They have face painting, interactive games, and you can make a sign to bring into the game. It's located on the South Side of Reliant, between the stadium & the Astrodome. It is open 2 hours before kick-off. For hair coloring I would recommend going by party city. It's Halloween time, so hair coloring is easy to come by. If you really want to get extravagant, check out Frankel's Costume Shop. Theater Makeup is the best face paint, because it lets your skin breathe. It's what I use on Battle Red Day. Last edited by TxDavid; 10-15-2008 at 12:26 AM. |

TxDavid's advice is a winner.
I would add that a bucket of popcorn for the game helps, and to bring some small lollypops. It's hard to sit in one place for a long time, so food gives them something to do when you explain to them what is going on. A Texans stuffed animal is nice to hold, and my kids also like the gameday program. Binoculars are a big hit too. Or if you have one, a digital camera. Kids love to take pictures.

This brought back a memory of taking Kyle to an A&M game when he was little. It was really cold and he would only take one mitten off at a time to shell the peanuts. Having slight OCD tendencies, it occupied him for hours.

Swing by the Blue Crew if ya get a chance. Always kids around. I think Joe's pinada (sp) is gonna be an adult one this game, but, the kids have fun watching the adults act like kids! lol My granddaughter will be at this game also. She is 11, but she loves little kids.
