Napolean Harris cut. Should we take a lookie?

Unable to find a trade partner for Napoleon Harris, the Kansas City Chiefs have released the veteran linebacker, according to Adam Schefter of NFLN.

Originally selected by the Raiders in the first round of the 2002 draft, Harris was sent to the Vikings along with a first-round pick and a seventh-round pick for Randy Moss in early 2005.

Harris started three games for the Vikings in 2005 and 14 in 2006. He joined the Chiefs as an unrestricted free agent in 2007, appearing in every game and starting 13.

He had yet to play in 2008.

Harris was under contract through 2012. Because he was cut before the trade deadline, he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

And don’t be surprised if the Vikings come calling, given that E.J. Henderon is on IR and his replacement, David Herron, was injured on Sunday against the Lions. In fact, our guess is that the Chiefs were hoping to get the Vikes to trade for Harris, and that the Vikings signed Dontarrius Thomas on Monday to make clear to K.C. that Minnesota wouldn’t give up anything to get Harris back.

Now that Harris is available, don’t be surprised if he returns to Minnesota.

Rick Smith, I hope you ain't sitting around at home watching NFL Replay. Get on the phone with NH, ASAP. Maybe someone should give him a heads up on this info, like they did with Brown telegraphing thing. Just to make sure he knows Harris is out on the market.

If he was an impact linebacker, why would a 1-4 team cut him?

As bad as the Chef's defense is, why did they cut this guy if he's a "stud"?? The Chefs were also talking about trading Tony G....? Is Petersen holding a yard sale for big contract guys??

Apparently he doesn't fit their scheme, which is the Tampa two. He was their top FA signing last year, after having a career year with Minnesota, who of course run the same defense as us.

Yes, Peterson said, or leaked to the media rather, that Tony G, Larry Johnson, Patrick Surtain, and Damon Huard. They are complete rebuilding mode and probably would've taken draft pick offers for anybody.

However, since they are the Chiefs, they probably wanted 1st rounders for everybody.

EDIT: Napoleon Harris was on the block too, but nobody wanted to give a draft pick up for him probably. Expect him to not be out of football for very long.

Well, if he fits our scheme, why the hell not? With Green healthy-ish, I'm sure they'd just try to cut & re-sign Darius Walker again... assuming Taylor is going to be back soon.

Haven't people been complaining that the problem with our defense is that...we have no identity? So how can we run the same defensive scheme?...
