pretty much a random thought, but it looks like the Cowboys are a paper tiger and don't look like they are getting to the Super Bowl. if you take that into consideration, could you see Jerry Jones going out and getting Cowher for the inaugural season in his NFL Shangri-La of a new stadium?
Phillips is a good coach but that doesn't matter to Jerry. it's win or hit the road and I don't think he would be so naive to think Garrett would be any better than Phillips as a Head Coach. Cowher however would be a wise hire and could yield quick results. A long shot? Because of Jerry's history of meddling, yes. But you never know. Stranger things have happened. Could you imagine Jerrah somehow luring Jimmah back to coach the Cowboys in 2009? That would be like Billy Martin and George Steinbrenner with the Yankees in the 70s. It will never happen but wow wouldnt it just be a trip. This season is looking like its going to be a slaughterhouse for NFL head coaches, so Cowher will have his picks? Is any other team more attractive than the Cowboys could potentially be?

I can't see Cowher coaching a team like that. Jason Garrett is their man.

Being a Cowboy fan, and I've been talking with WWJD about this, I'm highly disappointed right now. 4-1 might seem acceptable but it is the mentality. Sure Wade is a nice guy but he acts like the lovable uncle on the sidelines and yesterday someone needed to light a fire under their asses. For most longtime Cowboy fans I know there is this feeling while watching games...yesterdays was one...where you know they are going through the motions. Romo makes a few dumb mistakes and goes "awww shucks" and heads to the bench to put his hat on backwards. The defense lets a once stagnant offense find holes with their receivers. Right now the Giants and Skins are bringing it. Wade seems to do nothing to inspire. They can win 12 games but unless the same mistakes get corrected they will be out again.
Coaching wise, Garrett will be the man. He learned under Jimmy and I don't think he will be so quiet about mistakes. If they did get Cowher...I'd be pumped...but won't happen.

Yea I agree with HF...Cowher would be a fine hire and Jerry would certainly bring the cash to get him if he wanted him but I think he'd pass...
Can't see Jimmy coming back either. His new lifestyle suits him fine so why bother? Although he and Jerry are friendly again.... The Cowboys are paper tigers..I agree with that assessment....they lack intensity and focus and that's been a problem for some years now. The Bengals could very easily have snatched that game yesterday and you could tell they were playing with a fire.....when Tony made his few mistakes yest he just went over to the bench and sulked. I don't like that attitude and it's not a good one to have as the leader of the team. On a "who would have thunk it" note PacMan has been a bright spot for the Cowboys..he plays with heart and passion and he's working hard every play. And Felix Jones continues to impress...great draft pick there. |

I wanted the Boys to draft Chris Johson so bad.
I thought they were only going after Felix because of the Ark connection, but man that kid can play. I still think Chris Johnson is great, but Felix has definitely not disappointed thus far. |

Jerry is really at his core a "flavor of the month" kind of guy.
If he really wanted Cowher then he'd go after him. I am of the opinion though that Coach Cowher wouldn't be the right fit FOR HIM there....personally though I'd love to see it...tough, hard nosed, in your face kind of coach. It's EXACTLY what the Cowboys need. Jason is very smart and will probably have any number of job offers in the NFL. |

Wade Phillips reminds me of Jack Pardee.
He has no passion when things aren't going well.Nice guy but no killer instinct. |

************************** On the note of Cowher, I doubt that would ever fly. Jerrah likes his glitz and glamour while Cowher is a blue-collar, hard-nosed, blood and guts guy..

That's another reason why I don't think a guy like Cowher would be a good fit there. Hell, I'm surprised Parcells lasted as long as he did.

Ya know if I were these guys like Cowher and Johnson I think I'd take the Michael Strahan approach when asked to come back to the NFL..."thanks but no thanks"...HA!
A cushy, high paying job dissecting NFL teams and their games would suit me just fine if I were them. |

Jimmy Johnson on the other hand would probably LOVE to have Jerruh ask him again. Don't see that happening. OTOH A place like say .... houston might be the kind of task Jimmy might go after if enough money was thrown his way and given the tools and money it might saite his ego. |

I think it is a matter of time before Jason Garrett becomes head coach, and it was probably an understanding with Wade when he accepted that Garrett was heir apparant to the HC position. |

![]() The Cowboys have winning tradition, so even though they might struggle at times, they eventually start winning by drawing on past glory. There are expectations and standards to live up to with a franchise like Dallas. Our poor Texans on the other hand...we go on cruise control during a game and it's a guaranteed loss. Our wins are akin to getting lucky lottery numbers. It's always "OMG! We won!" instead of winning games as part of an expected winning season. So you Cowboys appreciate what ya' got. Wade didn't fumble that FG hold or throw that pick in the endzone.

I am still in shock that the Texans lost that game.....did anybody check to see if Reggie Wayne had some stickum on his hand? You CAN be both a Texans fan AND Cowboys fan like some of us on here (ok it's just maybe 2 or 3 of us on here) but I'm afraid your bullpen friends would marinate you and use you for tailgating food....ha! The Texans will come around one day...some day....till then keep fighting the fight! |
