Default Defense better because of Peek?

Has our defense improved because of one player? Why is our defense playing so well now? (is it better pass rushing)

Peek is a spark, Babin is getting better and more comfortable every game, Payne is one game further away from his injury every week, Robaire Smith seems to be getting his legs under him as a 3-4 end, Dunta gets more comfortable back there every week, take your pick.

This defense had a lot of changes to deal with coming into the year and IMO we are seeing improvement based on the added experience each of those players has gotten this season. They're going to finish strong. Remember how last year we had all those injuries on the defense and we were even pulling guys in off the street to play for us on the line? By the end of the year they weren't half bad. This is the same thing except we started with better players to begin with.

Just one player? It's an improvement, but not all encompassing. Concerning the jags game, I think it was more a team effort from all sides (well, special teams was hurting a bit) but coming out hard and fast to score quickly... that placed some questions in the jags, and their fans, minds.

Don't know about Peek making the Texans D overall better by himself but I'll tell you something that's evident..................he's a disruptive force that should not be taken lightly!! You know when Peek is in. Babin is coming along fantastically though....no doubt about that.

It's the quality of the opponents.

With the exception of Detroit, our loses have come against teams which will make the playoffs.

we are a .500 team - actually at the top of the .500 group of teams, ready to make the move up, given one more draft and one more training camp.

I think one play may tell us a lot about Peek. Late in the first half (:51 left), Babin drills Leftwich, causing a short throw and an interception by Wong at Jax 41. Result - Wong gets an interception and Babin doesn't get a sack ... Babin's great play disappears in the stats. After the interception, the Texans have a 15 yard personal foul penalty (Apparently, instead of blocking, Peek grabbed someone's facemask??? - ) moving the ball back to the Texans 44 yards line, a big difference with 44 secs left. The change in field position caused Carr to try to force one down the field and as a result, no points.

In another play, Dunta Robinson makes a great play, stripping the ball that Peek then runs in for a touchdown.

I love watching Peek play, but I don't see him as a saviour, who never makes a mistake. He's very quick, but raw. Hoepfully, he will develop into an every down player. Time will tell.

When Peek plays he brings a spark to our D, but I wouldn't say thats he's the one that saves our D. Robinson is kicck butt as a CB rookie and Babin is bringing pressure more often. Personally I think that Peek can be a leader of our D if he could only tone down his emotions a little. But Peek isn't the only reason why our D is playing better, the whole D unit is stepping it up. Can it be because they want to be a .500 team?

all the babin doubters never like the mention that he does lead the team in qb pressures...but it's not a glamorous enough stat to be relevant when comparing "underachieving" babin to "speed rushing monster" peek. not trying to start the fire's up again because i love what both players bring to our D with its current implementation, just letting you know i sympathize with your setiment

Peek makes things happen but that is both good and bad in his case.

I think there is a combination of factors most of which have been mentioned above, so i won't rehash them (not yet at least)

ive got the solution to peek's combustible outburst...

he needs something to distract him...

he needs a dance like ray lewis.

Peek will be boom or bust--if he can turn that excess energy into leadership/fire for the D he will be a pro-bowler, if he continues his personal foul ways, he will depart our team and have the same decision tree for some other team.

Must have fallen on the ball. Didn't look like much from the video, but stuff happens. To bad, he probably would have had a sack or two next week.

What it looked like on the replay a few minuites ago is that when he stretched to make the touchdown, the Jaguar grabbed his waist. So I'm thinking that the formula of stretching and pulling at the exact same time is what did it.

Its too bad. I love seeing 98 on the field.

I second that...what a cheap shot. Trying to tackle someone before they score...how could they!

PEEK! PEEK! PEEK! PEEK!

Antwaan is the man.

He has been one of my favorite players since having lunch with him and finding out he is REAL. He is a great guy...down to earth and very respecting of Grandma. He is one of those players that are very soft spoken and says "yes maam" and "yes sir" to everyone. He is an animal on field.

Whenever you see him, yell PEEK!

Peek alone does not make or break the defense as a whole. However I think Peek, sharper, wong, and Babin are much better then Wong, Sharper, Polk, and Babin. Why Peek cannot get the start defy's logic. Polk is a solid backup and Peek is a play maker. I like Foreman but I think his days as a Texan are limited.

Peek needs to bulk up and Babin needs to trim down a little. Both should be starting next season.

Peek needs to bulk up around 245-250

Babin needs to trim down to around 250-255
