Default I can now accurately predict the OL

Brown
Winston
Butler
Pitts
Briesel
Studdard
Frye
CWhite
CMyers

Maybe Salaam makes openning day roster as #10 (inactive) but I doubt it. I'm excited about this group and feel great about it... Lots of athleticism, youth, and versatility.

If the injury is what we are hearing it described as, Im almost 100% sure Salaam will be around. He's just got too much experience

You don't think Weary makes the OL if he was healthy?

Butler over Salaam?

Don't trade in your day job for a swami hat and a crystal ball anytime soon.

moot point! he's not healthy and he's way behind in picking up the OLine scheme, according to Kubiak.

100% that Butler makes the team. Yep. Salaam's injury increases the opportunity and likelihood that Frye makes it as well

These problems with pain from the screws are going to make it hard for him to make the team. Which is really sad.

i still think salaam makes the team. weary doesn't. frey.... i dunno.

Tackles : Winston, Brown, Butler, Salaam

Guards: Pitts, Brisel, Studdard, White (which scares me. i would have been riding high if weary was our healthy backup instead of Studdard)

Centers: Meyers, White. Eslinger has been running with the 3's the whole time. he doesn't make it.

i'm not sure what purpose working brisel at C is other than emergency stuff. White can play both C and G for sure.

Brisiel being able to play C means Eslinger is totally and completely gone.

The injuries to Weary and Salaam really make me uncomfortable.

What makes you so sure? Do you have some special knowledge? I can see Butler making it WITH Salaam but not instead of. Just not buying that at this point.

At the very least, wouldn't they put Weary on PUP ? He's an established
NFL starting guard who would probably be scooped up by another team
that would wait for him to heal if we don't tie him up.
As far as Butler goes, its my understanding that he can play OT on either the left or right side, which is something most NFL tackles can't do ? And he is freakishly athletic - so he's a natural for the ZB system.

No one knows. Not Kubiak. Not Gibbs. Not John Benton. No one. What I will say is that Frye and Butler will be given every opportunity the next two games to prove they do or don't belong. If they were certain about anything they wouldn't be calling up Spencer's agent for a PS slot & they wouldn't have signed Tucker. positions 6- 10 are still wide open and will be until someone plays them selves onto the street. I believe Weary is in trouble. I believe they will Keep Salaam.

What are the legalities of being placed on Injured Reserve?
I believe that player counts against the 80-man roster but will he count against the final 53-man talley?

I believe the time to be placed on the PUP list has come and gone. You can remove people for a little while longer, but I'm pretty sure you can't add anyone.

dumb. found out why too....

Quote:
Currently, the NFL's injured reserve rule restricts a player so designated from returning to play during the season that he's placed on the list. For further information on the rules concerning the contract status and compensation for injured players, see the Collective Bargaining Agreement (or CBA).

This represented a rule change which, I believe (I'm still researching this), was instituted when the current CBA was ratified.

Prior to that, the injured reserve rule distinguished between a player going on the list before the final roster was set (in pre-season) and after that. A player going on injured reserve in pre-season was, like now, lost for the season but a player going on the list during the season only had to sit out for a minimum of four games.

Apparantly, the NFL owners pushed for this rule change in an effort to police themselves. I've read that some, unnamed, owners (the NFL owners' meetings are private) felt that some teams were illegally using the injured reserve list to stash players who weren't really injured to circumvent the rules on roster limits (to gain a competitive advantage).
