direct tv sunday ticket question

Can anyone that has sunday ticket confirm that all of the houston texans games will be playing every week? I would like to switch over but only if I can watch the texans. I live in Killeen and when the game is not televised on cbs my family and I are reduced to listening on 610. Sometimes that doesn't work. Thank you

The only time that the broadcast wouldn't be on Sunday Ticket is if it was televised on your local CBS/Fox affiliate, or if it were a nationally televised game (ie - their Monday Night game vs. the Jags). Needless to say, you don't care about that. Also, no preseason games are televised via Sunday Ticket.

So yeah, with Sunday Ticket, you'll be able to see every Texans regular season game.

As long as you're not affected by local blackouts, you'll be able to watch all 16 games somewhere on TV.

You should get them all, but I got screwed one game last year with the ticket. The local CBS channel showed the Titans game and so did the ticket. I called DirecTV and told them I wanted the Texans game on the ticket and the local broadcast should be blacked out instead. They told me I was wrong and that game wasn't on DirecTV anywhere. But 5 miles away in Pflugerville, people were watching the game on the ticket (confirmed by posters on here) like it should have been. I missed the first half after arguing back and forth trying to get them to believe me and that they were wrong and they were breaking there own broadcast rules by showing both games like that.

*sigh* to no avail, I went to Pluckers and caught the last half of the game, where it was ON. I took still pics of my TV screen on both channels and planned to ***** to the FCC but I got lazy. So barring a freak stupid accident like that with is unacceptable after you fork out almost $300 dollars to make sure you don't miss a game, you should be fine.

I will however not be getting the Ticket ever again as a result. On top of the $260 or whatever it is, you got to drop another $100 if you want it in HD......I would rather spend that on beer and wings at Pluckers.

This is how it suppose to work, but we in Round Rock got screwed somehow last year.

Local to Houston shows the games regardless as long as it is sold out I believe, he is talking about local to you (no matter where you live), in other words if your CBS affiliate shows the titans game instead of the Texans game, it will be on ticket channels. If it shown locally on CBS, on the ticket channel it will show Texans vs. *insert opponents name here* but what you tune into that channel you will get a message telling you it is blacked out to try you local stations.

Thought that was only in-around Jacksonville. That's what happened last year when we were the only ones that missed the Pats/Colts game.

I don't believe that Killeen is in the Jacksonville blackout area. In fact, I don't believe Killeen is in anyone's blackout area.

Correct, but if we ever get to the point where a game is not sold out far enough in advance, you won't get to see the game in the Texans home area (which is either a 75 or 90 mile radius from Reliant) whether you have Sunday Ticket or not.

As I said before, hopefully, we'll never experience it, but it was an occasional problem with the Oilers.

So if a game doesn't sell out you can't see in anywhere outside the blackout area? That's not the way I remember it, I thought outside of that 75-90 mile radius, whatever it is, stations could carry that game if they wanted and it woudl be on the Ticket.

No - if you're outside the blackout area, you'll never be subject to the blackout (which is what I was attempting to say).

Okay we are saying the same thing then. We are just using the term blackout to mean two different things, or I am using to describe two different types.

There is:

1. The old classic definition: a local blackout of the Houston viewing area local TV because a home game is not completely sold out. Obivously doesn't apply if you live outside the Houston viewing area.

2. on Sunday ticket they use the term to mean that the game is "blacked out" on the Sunday ticket channels (channels 700-716 I believe) because it is on a local channel instead. If it is not on a local channel for whatever reason, i.e. your local affiliate is not carrying then it SUPPOSED to be on the Ticket.

As I stated earlier, in Round Rock last year there was a case were the showed the titans on both the local CBS affiliate AND the Ticket which they are not supposed to do, it's one or the other.

Agreed. As you said, the Titans on both local and Ticket was a mistake, and from my experience, DirectTV is pretty good about stuff like that, although obviously not perfect, and others may have different experiences.

As you can tell, I live in Houston (well - Spring), so I don't have Sunday Ticket because of the Texans, I mainly have it because of fantasy, and a general addiction to the NFL. I switched from cable about two years ago for a few reasons, but the NFL Network, and Sunday Ticket were very high on my list. I have been very happy with DirectTV in general, and the football stuff specifically.
