It's a fair ranking.

like I said, it really urked me to see us last in that catagory but thinking about it w/o my homer glasses on, I have to concede that its fair. When we start regularly winning more divisional games then we can rightfully claim that we're out-coaching the other teams.

Uhh, you guys can watch Bennetts hips, but I will be watching Shakira's. She may not be able to intercept but she can definitely distract the WR. Her "hips don't lie." And that is all I have to say about that.

However, Houston appeared to ameliorate their blocking issues last season, giving up only 22 sacks and ranking seventh in sacks allowed per play. The front five has really taken to the zone-blocking scheme that Kubiak brought over from the Broncos. That said, defensive ends have still been too common a presence in the backfield, which is why the team made the necessary move of replacing left tackle Ephraim Salaam. The 32-year-old does not have the lower-body strength to handle the bull rush, and his recovery abilities are questionable.

How this should read: The Texans gave up only 22 sacks because they ditched their incredible self-sacking QB.

Kubiak never truly implemented a Denver-style ZBS. With Gibbs here this year, it's the first year we will be seeing the offense the way we would like to see it.

Here's a recent (this morning) addition to preseason analysis of the Texans. It seems quite reasonable. The comment of our OL not thus far being an aggressive crew is not one that we would like to admit, but will likely change this year (hopefully Gibbs will poke a matchstick in some of our player's rear ends). His predictions are again reasonable, and not necessarily in line with our optimism, although he still leaves the door open for that last wild card slot.

DT: Travis Johnson Has finally––finally!––started playing up to snuff. Not the most likeable guy (remember the Trent Green incident?) but at least he’s contributing.


Still dont get it. How does the Trent Green incident make TJ unlikable? Green should of been fined for the cheapshop he took at the knees of TJ. If Green hadnt been injured I think the consensus would be totally opposite of what it is now.

agreed. pretty good assessment. i'm unwilling to accept that this year is not a playoff contention year (even though it's perfectly plausible) due to said optimism that for me personally seems to be a perfectly valid reason why we are going to be playing for that wildcard spot. very good review.
