Where do we need the most help? Lets see, a big fast slashing RB with above average speed? An instinctive MLB who can flow through the trash and make the tackle? Also to read the QB and get in position for the IT. Another CB to make ready for the departure of Glenn? How about a big, strong C to shore up that interior line? What is your guess?

I think we need a safty to replace colman, but derrik johnson at lb if we can get him, but he will be gone unless we trade up to get him. we can address the center situation through FA. We need to replace colman and forman through the draft. the rest through FA. dl are hard to guess on, easier to pick one in a later round that can fill two gaps. possibly a wr to eventually replace bradford. how does that sound to you?

I think Marcus Spears would be a good choice because he would either 1. Take Walkers place and get us some sort of pass rush, or 2. Make Walker realize his position isnt set in stone and start playing like a pro-bowler again.

I think we need to go ILB, if we do go defense 1st round. I like our CB's, S, DL, and OLB, and Sharper. We need to upgrade Foreman. If we dont do ILB, I think an offensive player would be the most logical choice. Maybe a RB, or Lineman.

I dont expect instant pass rush, I expect something more than nothing. If a new player doesnt help with the rush than we are in deeper trouble than we thought. This group has been together all year and its not getting any better.

The only offensive positions I see us drafting in the first round is a RB or TE. We'll probably go defense. Who knew at this time last year that Dunta Robinson was gonna be our no.1 pick? I never even heard of him until a few weeks before the draft. I also think Foreman's injury will show us what we have at the position now. We'll find out if we need to draft a ILB high in the draft or not.

I still think the Texans should drop down about 5 spots, pick up another 2nd, and fill more holes.

We need to continue to build the front 7 on our defense. It is underwhelming right now. Teams can run on us at will. Our pass-rush is substandard too. I'd like to add an ILB and either a DE or DT to the mix next year.
We have Robinson and Earl learning the ropes in the secondary along side Coleman and Glenn. I think we are fine as far as the starters go. On the other side of the ball, we need to look at C and TE. I think we need to plan on Joppru never materializing. If he does then we end up two deep like the Colts (Clark and Pollard). There has to be a decision made whether Davis is our long-term solution at HB too. Decisions, decisions. |

From what Casserly has said and the fact there are few defensive position with guys pushing starters, i expect the defense to get 5 or 6 of the 9 picks that the texans have. Casserly will make his normal strange BPA pickor draft a guy coming off injury. He will also trade. i ahve no feel if it will be up or down, but somewhere for the Texans to totally trade out of draft.

NTF-
when do you think we could get Orton? I like him, but there will be some good QBs late |

Been a while since I've been on but here goes. My early presumption is that we draft a MLB to replace Foreman. I wish he didn't get hurt because he has shown he can take the reigns. But hopefully getting someone out of the draft will cause something to happen in that position. As far as safety is conserned, there is a multi-year extension on Coleman, which means that he will be with us until he retires I'm sure. On offense, I see us taking a look at RB. Not saying we're going to replace anyone but we may need some depth if we don't see any improvement.

In my opinion, we've got to upgrade the DL in the off season. It's got to be the #1 priority. Since rookie DL tend to take a couple of years to develop (with the exception of the occasional Wilfork type of player), I fully expect the Texans to sign one through FA. There are several solid DT's that will enter FA this year. Detroit has a couple that peek my interest.
Shaun Rogers (UFA) 6'4" 345lbs. 25 y/o with 4 years experience & he went to college at UT. I wonder if he'd like to come back to Texas? Marcus Bell (UFA) 6'2" 326lbs. 25 y/o with 3 years of experience, & he's Rogers's backup. A couple of other solid UFA's are: Jason Ferguson (Jets) 6'3" 305lbs. He's 30 y/o, but seems to be getting better with time. Pat Williams (Bills) 6'3" 317lbs. At 32 y/o, he's a bit long in the tooth, but he's still racking up the tackles (81 total tackles last year). Getting Rogers would give us the flexibility to move Payne into Walker's spot, which would help Payne's knee to avoid some of the congestion in the middle. Just like the Texans made Robaire & Wade their top FA priorities, I'd put Rogers up there as well. Getting him would give us 3 starting DL 29 y/o & younger (Payne (29), Robaire (27), Rogers (25) ). That's a unit that could play together for a few years. Another benefit that I see in moving Payne into Walker's spot, is that he's so strong, he demands the attention of a double team. That would automatically take some of the pass protection off of Babin & give him more opportunities to sack/pressure the QB. As for what position I'd take with my 1st pick in the draft, I'd have to go with the BPA at the TE, LB, CB, RB, & FS positions. I would not trade away (or down) a 1st day pick, unless it brought me more picks. We need to build depth & add younger players to eventually replace our aging veterans. We can make moves for impact players next year. I believe we're set at the QB, FB, WR, & for the most part, OL positions. We should be looking for Wiegert's replacement & possibly, McKinney's in the later rounds. |

Payne at LE would be awesome
what do you think about Ngata from Oregon? may be good depth/future in the middle if these first few years have taught us anything, its value of d-line depth I would rather 6 good players than 3 superstars and 3 rosterfillers* * speaking generically |

That guy Spears from LSU would be a nice add in to the Texans D-line.

well i see our d-line and the only thing that comes to mind is that we are really big and really slow...smith needs to be our NT and we need a slightly smaller and slightly faster guy at DE...marcus spears or shaun cody needs to be picked up...we can trade down and get one of those guys and pick up an extra 2nd rounder it should be:
trade down to get one of the DE's: 1st. marcus spears DE 2nd. carlos rogers CD 2nd. adam terry LT 3rd. robert mccune ILB 3rd. marion barber III RB
