Of course, had he listed the Texans as "winners", you would say how much you value his opinion. And since you know so much, I'm sure people are paying you big bucks for your opinion.

the article is about picks from day 1 only, and brown was our only pick yesterday. so yeah, thats all he is basing it on.
and while i dont agree with him that we are a day 1 loser, there was some truth in what he said

I have respect for Clayton, but it's a little foolish to base a draft analysis on one round alone. Just a boneheaded thing to do, we had a very solid draft.

Of course we'd be listed as 1st Day losers by the media. None of the experts had Brown as a 1st rounder, and we had no 2nd rounder.
But to criticize, according to staff and the General, Jenkins was never considered. |

Some actually had him rated as a late first rounder, but simply due to NFL team needs he was predicted to go into the second. Not because of his player ratings.... but by variables from team needs around the league, other picks, the depth of the position, etc.

It may also impact the analysis when you factor in that our 2nd round resulted in slightly less than 1/2 of Matt Schaub (However, I'm not sure which half Top? Right? oh well.)

You never know how good your draft was until a year or so later anyway.

We got roasted two years ago on almost every pick except Demeco and look how that turned out. These guys cant study every team with enough depth to tell who really helped themselves or not.
Case and point Jeff Fisher was interviewedc today by ESPN and NFLN and he hinted they did not know crap about his team always harping on WR since he was at camps and practice he has seen the development and knows better what they have. In this case I hope hes wrong and they suck A$$ but hopefully you get the point. It takes a ton of time with film and in practice to evaulate some of these young guys potential.

No disrespect toward you man. Thanks for posting it, I was responding to the article not you. It will get back to Clayton sooner or later then he will understand why we did what we did. I just think it was silly to consider us losers on one draft pick.....

if worse case scenario was to move back, get two extra picks, and a future LT, than we won on day one considering we didn't have a 2nd rd pick

The media clowns don't know the difference between a traditional tackle and one suited for the zone blocking scheme. They rag on us when we don't select who they think we need. The Mario/Reggie draft is the perfect example, and today I saw a few of them having some crow on the subject.

"Things went horribly for the Texans, so they traded down and ended up with Duane Brown."
Does it get any dumber than this? Yes, AZZ\/\/HOLE, they did trade down, but they ended up with more than Duane Brown. His name is Steve Slaton. |

Remember last year when everyone crowned the Cleveland Browns the big winners of the '07 draft?
Well, they didn't have a first round pick. Or a second round pick. They had a third round pick and traded it. Why aren't they the big losers this year? |

You know when you start with thirteen it's prety hard to mess up. I though K.C. picked solid core players with upside just about every pick. Come away with the best "3" DT on the board ...and some would argue the best d-player in this draft class. Follow that with the most athletic gaurd I've seen in a very long while....two pillars for the two lines. I didn't know one of the guys they drafted but everyoe else looked solid as a rock.
Dallas had a great draft. Jacksonville had a great draft...saw the two they wanted and pulled the trigger....will it be enough to get them over the hump ? I don't know but it was a bold move(s) by a team who believes they are two defensive ends away from playing in the AFC chapionship game. minnesota did the same thing with Allen. One peice to get them into the play off hunt. The natti got punked by da Saints....Who dat ? My word.....the wolf in new england was dangling Ellis....and they tucked their tails and said ty sir may I please have another . I hope Belichick was wearing a condom. Was it good for you marvin ?

Why does anyone still care what the media says? Like what they say matters. Really? Like the Texans being the biggest boneheads ever by taking Mario?
Screw the media. And that goes both ways, whether they report the bad stuff, give us bad grades, whatever, or they have good things to say. I'll wait and see how it plays out. I don't need some media jerkoff to say something good about my team to make me feel better. I'll feel better when the W's exceed the L's in the standings. Grading drafts the day after is pointless anyway. You want to grade a draft, go back and grade a past draft. What's the '06 draft looking like, and what was the media saying the day after that one?
