Default What's Sage still doing here?

I could've sworn we were gonna fleece some team on the 1st day of the draft in exchange for Mr. Rosenfels...

Rick Smith was sleeping and woke up after the Vikings traded their 3rds.

Here's what I'm wondering about the non-Sage trade and it's domino effect on the draft...

Say we traded Sage for Minnesota's 3rd round pick. This would have had an adverse reaction with their trade for Jared Allen with Kansas City. They proabably would either have to give up an '09 2nd or this years 2nd... or maybe they just decide they can't do the trade?

So if we got a 3rd from them, KC doesn't get their 1st rounder because the J.Allen trade didn't go through- this would change the draft at pick 15-18.

Detroit- still take Cherilous at 15 instead of 18?
Arizona- still get their man rodgers-cromartie
Minnesota- They miss out on Harvey and need a pass rushing DE since they didn't get Allen. No other DE worth this spot. Do they take Branden Albert or does a team jump up infront of us here and take Albert.

What if we saw this and traded up with Arizona to get Albert, and they could still get DRC at 18? or maybe we liked Duane Brown that much we were willing to stay/trade down for him.

Just some things making me think. Let's pretend Albert was available at 18. Knowing what happened and we selected him it'd be like this:

Would you trade Duane Brown, Steve Slaton and Dominique Barber to Kansas City for Branden?? If they called us for a trade would you do it? It'd be the same as if we hadn't traded down and took Albert at 18 if he was available.

Put the keyboard down and move away slowly.

You're thinking about this way too much.

Apprently Kubiak were truthful about keeping 2-3 capable QB's.

If Sage is not traded during the training camp due to injuries with other teams, we'll be sleeping at night knowing that SOMEONE can take over if for some reason Schaub is unable to perform.

The only glaring need that we didn't address in the draft/FA is that of a pass rushing specialist at DE to help out Mario/Amobi. Unless the coaches think Chaun Thompson is that guy im wondering if the Texans are thinking of doing a player/player swap so we can get a guy that can fill that role.

Personally, if the Bears offered Mark Anderson for Sage I would jump on it. I'm just throwing a name out there though haha.

One of the UDFA's is a DE so maybe he sticks. It may be a long shot but not unheard of.
