Quentin Groves had heart surgery

Former Auburn DE Quentin Groves underwent heart surgery on 3/27 to alleviate a rapid heart beat, according to Adam Schefter of NFL.com.

Auburn defensive end Quentin Groves and Michigan wide receiver Mario Manningham each have sent letters to all 32 teams explaining their problems and how they have corrected them, teams confirmed.

Groves admitted to undergoing heart surgery March 27 to treat his Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome, an abnormality in the heart's electrical system that can cause rapid heart beats. The condition was identified and the problem alleviated, according to the letter that teams received earlier this week.

Teams still have questions about Groves' health, which helps explain why the defensive end's travel schedule has been full. The six-foot-3, 250-pounder visited Cleveland last month, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati earlier this week, and he is scheduled to visit the Giants, Jets, Patriots and 49ers next week. The early reports on Groves are encouraging; the health questions that existed before have begun to be answered.

Groves was considered a first-round pick before, and even with his medical procedure, he still is expected to be a first-round pick.

According to wiki, Portland TrailBlazer, and former Longhorn, LaMarcus Aldridge also has WPW syndrome.

Nice thing about it is that the radiofrequency ablation (which it sounds as if was done) can often cure it. I doubt this becomes a deciding factor in where he ends up getting drafted.

I may need this one day for my A-fib. It only happens every 2-3 years but it is bothersome when it does. It is all the result of a fluke heart virus that almost killed me. I'm completely healthy now but the side effect was the A-fib. I'm waiting for ablation to become more advanced.
