That's been up since late last night. Look at the time stamp on the first comment. The article is time stamped 10:35 pm. How much you want to bet it makes it a full 12 hours?

There's no doubt we're at an all time low in local 'print' media sports coverage in this city. They could obviously use a new headline writer too. I wonder if that made it past the editors into the print versions too?

Seems like everytime I read one of the McClain/Manfield blogs, they cover all options, rule out few.........and change with the wind. I would expect that more from Texans board posters, yet it seems that there is more insight and willingness to take a stand and present legitimate factual backup for those stands offered right here.

Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the Browns have re-signed free agent offensive lineman Seth McKinney to a one-year contract.

McKinney started the first eight games of the 2007 season at right guard for the Browns before he was placed on injured reserve with a torn labrum.

When Ryan Tucker moved in to McKinney’s spot the rest of the season and played well there, and when Cleveland signed free agent Rex Hadnot after the season, it was generally assumed that McKinney wouldn’t be back in Cleveland. But he’s back, and Browns General Manager Phil Savage says he has a chance at re-gaining his spot in the starting lineup.

“At this point, we feel we have seven starters competing for five positions,” Savage said.

Grossi notes that although the Browns have said in the past that they are optimistic that LeCharles Bentley will return from multiple knee surgeries, Savage was apparently not including Bentley as one of those seven.

Last year a story broke that I found on Yahoo news. It was credited to an AP writer. I found the exact same story credited to Megan Manful in the Chronicle. The text had not changed, only the headline was slightly different. I questioned both, but received no response. I thought that was strange.

Kristie Rieken is the AP writer that covers the Texans. I've see her and Manfull hanging out together on the sidelines during practices, etc., so maybe the they have an agreement to share stuff... you know, you take mornings, I'll take afternoons....

Wondered what connection landed Manfull here. I think she does ok providing info for the casual fan, but not for most message board folk. They've got 4 or 5 capable of covering the Astros beat or providing meaningful columns/commentary. They've only got 2 or only utilize 2 (arguably) for the Texans. That's part of the problem, and I think it goes back to the decision to put McClain on the beat to start instead of hiring someone new back then. I'd be hard-pressed to criticize a writer for not knowing, say, the wonder that was Matt Stevens, if he/she hadn't been covering the NFL/Texans until the past two years.

She's also a young woman in love, engaged to be married Jan. 26 to Jesus Ortiz, 30, a sportswriter who covers the Houston Astros baseball team for the Houston Chronicle. They met two summers ago when she was in New York City working at Newsday and he was a sportswriter at the Newark, N.J., Star Ledger.

Actually, I'm not a real fan of Ortiz and his coverage of the Astros. Let's face it, the bar at the Chronic isn't set very high.
