Default Vikings looking at Gus Frerotte

According to the Star-Tribune:

Quote:
Gus Frerotte, who spent the past two seasons with St. Louis, is scheduled to be at Winter Park after visiting the Green Bay Packers on Tuesday.

Frerotte has played 14 NFL seasons with seven teams, including two (2003 and 2004) with Minnesota when he served as Daunte Culpepper's backup. The Vikings continue to look for a veteran to challenge Brooks Bollinger for the backup job behind Tarvaris Jackson and perhaps even put pressure on Jackson in training camp.
A Frerotte signing should kill the Rosenfels trade rumors.

There goes a pick down the drain if this goes through.

Good. I hope it kills the Rosenfells trade rumor. Quite frankly we need Rosenfells. Every team needs a solid backup QB in case the starter goes down or is removed. Look what happened to the Falcons. They trade Schaub, Vick goes to jail, and they are relying on Joey Harrington? They get so desperate they even bring in Byron Leftwich? Yeah, bad situation that could have been avoided had they kept Schaub.

There are few Tom Brady, Bret Favre, and Peyton Manning type of Qbs that can be penciled in for a decade. For everyone else we need a reliable backup as insurance. If we can develop someone to be a backup fine, but I am not comfortable trading Rosenfells and then having Nall as our primary backup.

Good.

I'm on the Rosenfels bandwagon. The guy proved to be a starter, just not with another team....yet.

LOL, yeah right. They'll just shift to another team. Chicago, Green Bay, etc.

The fact that Minn is looking to upgrade their back up QB spot is all the more reason why we shouldn't mess with the great back up we have in Rosenfels.

I always think about that game last year when Jim Sorgi came in to take over for Peyton Manning against the Titans. Man, he was bad... but it was just one game. Quinn Gray looked awful in relief of Garrard the first time, but got steadily better.

Anyway, sorry - kind of off-topic.
