If you remember each of the last two drafts the Texans supposedly had potential trades in their pockets. In 2006, it was the Texans trading up with Chicago if our guy rumored to be DeAngelo williams was there. I think Chicago got a better deal from the Panthers in the end.2007's version was something with Denver moving up if we did not like what was there and Denver's guy was still on the board.I am pretty sure teams do this all the time and with the draft shorten the clock to 10 minutes bewteen picks that this will occur more. Still like the rest of you I have no idea of how good Hilton's sources are.

I wanna say that DeAngelo Williams deal was the real thing, but I don't recall where I saw that.
Like I said, this may very well be the real thing- but if you're going to post a rumor and there are "a number of" websites reporting it, then why not spend three seconds to go to those number of sites and just post a link to ONE of them? |

do it in a heartbeat and pick up the extra 3rd rounder and then try to move back again because I think they were targeting Johnathon Stewart and now with him possibly falling and the top corners going really early makes since to move back.

the 2006 trade was real imo... just the bills offered more than us to move up and get mccargo
instead of deangelo williams, we ended up with demeco ryans and eric winston.. whats that they say about some of your best moves? |

A prize to the 1st member who can find a link to this trade rumor (other than Hilton's blog). I don't think there's another website reporting this. Prove me wrong.

This is what he replied to your post on chron.com. Sounds like he's crawfishin now.

That guy (Hilton) is terribly incompetent.
His stories are always sensational and never substantive. I know the Chron is not the paragon of media but I don't understand how even they can justify keeping this guy on. |

bloggers aren't held to standards of journalism. They are some animal bewteeen OP/ed guys and gossip columnists. Big stink in these parts has been the Mavs decision to limit bloggers accessto the lockerroom bcause of they are not held to the standards of a reporter.

Anyway, I like TH. He puts a lot of time into his entries, I just don't understand how/why he keeps throwing out totally unfounded stuff, especially when he says stuff like 'a number of sites are reporting'. I know bloggers aren't held to any kind of standard, but if you're going to go to the trouble to blog about this stuff, and claim to have inside info - it would be nice to have something... anything... to substantiate it. Ah well. Last edited by DiehardChris; 03-18-2008 at 06:16 PM. |

We all sit around and talk about sports with friends and make up trade scenarios just for kicks, and this sounds like what he and his college buddies are doing, it is just that he gets to put that crap on the Chrons website and call it a blog.

This is true, but none of us are saying it's backed up by a number of websites. I wouldn't have even blinked at his blog entry had he not said that, because as you said it's typically just 'that kind' of speculation.

Is it so hard to believe that the Texans might have been the front runners for a top FA running back at the start of free agency, or that The Texans and Steelers are talking about a trade. I doubt that he is making this stuff up off the top of his head, but I don't really care. Do we have to wait until The Chron reports it before we talk about it? Half of the sports media in the world had us 100% taking Bush. They should all turn in their press passes!

My sources (my gut and my brain) told me back in early February that the Texans were never seriously considering Michael Turner.
My sources also told me that the possibility of the Texans trading down on draft day is quite real. It's only been discussed in multiple venues for months. I think people are just a bit skeptical due to the specificity of this 'rumor' considering the history (apparently). |
