The fact that they gave him 3 years is pretty shocking. Obviously they feel like he has something because when we sign a role player FA we tend to give them 1 year contracts (Danny Clark, Andre Davis, etc.)

Agreed. A lot better than the old LB's we have signed the past two years that have found there way to the IR before the season began.

Danny Clark is the expception.

This is a good move. It doesnt cost the Texans a lot of money and he is locked up for 3 years if he does well. He adds depth at the LB position and worst case scenario will be a good special teams player like he was in Seattle.

Absolutely. Every year there are a couple linebackers that come out of nowhere and become valuable starters. I'm not expecting that but there is at least a chance and with a very reasonable pricetag.

My sentiments exactly. I believe the team needs to be more aggressive in FA . Signing career backups is fine to fill in roster space but, we need some impact players and at least one to complement Demeco.

I know that the standard refrain these days is that the Texans need cornerback, running back, left tackle, but boy howdy, I'd like to see DeMeco get some real help.[/QUOTE]

Exactly why we have to be aggressive in FA and not just rely on the draft because we have several holes to fill.

I like the signing seems like solid value for money, he is a guy that Rhodes knows well and he was part of a very good Seattle line backing group, sometimes all you need is opportunity to show how good you really are.

Not bad for the money. He sounds like he should at least be a quality backup incase someone goes down.

And as the story points out we have lost CharlieAnderson. We needed a replacement. Hopefully this guy is even better.

I don't much about Bentley so I went to see what they were saying about him on a Seahawks board. It sounds like they were high on him but not really missing him.

http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=114#s...1936&t=2128989

Quote:
He was a good ST and backup. Hopefully he gets to start and succeed in his new home.
Quote:
He'll definitely get a chance to start. Houston could use a smart linebacker that works well in space. I hope he does well in Houston, he's a hard worker, and from what I hear, keeps himself in amazing condition.
Quote:
3yrs/$4M - those are backup LB dollars, which doesn't surprise me. What does surprise me is that he and his agent took it so quickly after stating that they were looking for an oppty (and $) somewhere where KB could start (which I didn't believe he'd find). One has to wonder if the Seahawks made any attempt to retain him under similar contract terms, because that contract is very reasonable.
Quote:
Even if Seattle offered the same deal, Bentley had zero chance of starting in Seattle, my guess is the Texans are giving him a better opportunity (not that familiar with their LB situation).
I didn't see one post saying he was garbage and good ridince.

Default Let's get to know our new OLB

Here's some random stuff after doing a quick search on Bentley.

He's into yoga:

Quote:
Seahawks linebacker Kevin Bentley strikes a pose in the humid, 105-degree climate inside Hot Yoga of Kirkland. Bentley does sessions of the specialized yoga twice a week along with his rigid schedule of football games, practices and workouts.

Bentley gets a couple of massages a week, and he attends a bikram yoga class Tuesday afternoon and again Thursday evening. The temperature surpasses 105 degrees, and a 238-pound linebacker does his best to get limber.

"It helps getting your flexibility back," Bentley said. "And flushing your system, because you're sweating so much you're pounding a lot of water."
He really takes care of his body:

Quote:
Bentley eats organic food, special-ordered from a menu, and has a week's worth delivered every Friday, consuming 2,000 calories per day.

"Your body starts to break down," Bentley said. "When you eat bad stuff it just seems like it speeds up the process, for me anyway."

Bentley's locker is next to Julian Peterson, a 240-pound linebacker whose breakfast last week started with Pop-Tarts, progressed to bacon, eggs and sausage and was capped off with a box of sugar-coated Nerds.

Leroy Hill has the locker on the other side of Bentley. He eats fast food for dinner every night. Subway. McDonald's. Pizza. Whatever sounds good. Not that you could ever tell by Hill's physique, which cuts one imposingly ripped profile.

"Everybody's body is different," Bentley said. "I might recover different than Leroy recovers."
He's really good in the community:

Quote:
Story Time at the U Village Barnes & Noble had a special guest on December 19th, Seahawks linebacker Kevin Bentley. Reading such favorites as, “I’m Gonna Like Me: Letting Off a Little Self-Esteem” by Jamie Lee Curtis and Laura Cornell and “The Night Before Christmas,” Kevin helped introduce the joy of reading to a new generation of youths.

At the event parents and customers were encouraged to donate a book to the Holiday Book Drive benefiting Treehouse. Donated books were given to students in the Treehouse Tutoring program and distributed to foster kids through the Treehouse Wearhouse, a unique facility where foster children and their caregivers can shop for free.

“Story Time is a favorite event of U Village Barnes & Noble employees and customers alike, and it was a thrill to have Seahawks Kevin Bentley inspire kids to read,” said Barnes & Noble Customer Relations Manger Callie Sherrard. “The mission of Treehouse means a lot to us. Our goal is to put a book in the hand of every child that Treehouse helps.”

“We’re thrilled with the hundreds and hundreds of books Barnes & Noble is collecting for Treehouse, and equally excited about Kevin Bentley reading at the U Village store. It’s so right to have a Seahawks player representing Treehouse – the team is an incredible supporter of our organization through its Spirit of 12 Partners program,” commented Treehouse Executive Director Janis Avery.
He was voted the sexiest man in football:

Quote:
The fourth-year linebacker for the Cleveland Browns matches good looks (he models on the sideline) with brains (he went to Northwestern).

We've let you vote on the women for the last week and a half. It's only fair that we give the men a fair shake now.

So without further adieu, we present the battle for Page 2's Hottest Male Athlete.

You've heard of some of these guys; others might be new to you. But that really doesn't matter.

It's time to forget about little details like championships, records, awards and fame. So join us once more as we engage in the age-old tradition of judging people solely on their looks.

Just like before, we'll be narrowing the field down to the final four next week, so vote once, twice, three times a Jimmy Pedro -- because at Page 2, all your votes count.
His middle name is Kinte:

Quote:

This guy is my early pick for guy that ends up starting for the Texans and having a solid season but will be missed from the 2009 Madden rosters.

e.g Vonta Leach last year.

Sounds like the type of player that the Texans covet. Smart, try hard, takes care of himself, acts like a professional on and off the field.

And at not a ridiculous price.
