Getting $4million a year would make him one of the top 10 paid players on the roster.... Or am I totally misunderstanding the contract?

If I am not can I say I think we overpaid.....

DAVIS CASHES IN

Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that the new contract between the Texans and receiver Andre Davis is worth $16 million over four years, with guaranteed money close to $8 million.

We projected only (only?) $3 million in guaranteed money for Davis in our free-agency rankings for the receiver position.

If Davis is worth $8 million in guaranteed money, what in the heck will Randy Moss get? $27 million? $30 million?

What is funny about their quote is they probably barely even pay attention to how valuable he is to us and how good of a year he had. They are prolly right about Moss, paying close attention to him, just out of touch with our Texans.

The off-season is new. They said that LT and RB are top priorities, and I expect them to prove it in the draft and FA. We've already signed a proven line coach in Gibbs, and jettisoned some dead weight/cap space on the line. I'm giving them the benefit of optimism that they will address our needs.

The contract seems a little high, but as long as he isn't taking more than 3m of the cap I'm fine with it. He serves double duty in KR as well.

AD was our top FA to resign imo. He's way too valuable to let go. People are complaining about his contract comparing him to a 3rd WR and I think that is way off base. He SHINED this year in several roles:

1) 3rd WR/Premier deep threat

2) Special teams gunner

3) Kick Returner

He contributes to this team in a perceived backup role more than most starting WRs imo.

Seeing as how I don't pay anyones salary here, I love it that he will be with us next year. I will leave it to those who do pay money for this stuff to make decesions.

In the meantime, yeah, I am happy as hell he is on our side this coming season.

8 million of guaranteed money for a guy in his 20s isn't that much. I was certainly hopeful that we could get him on the cheap, however, my guess that his cap number is at or under $3 million for this year and next year. So, he only sees the about half the contract if he doesn't produce... By the way, we are getting him signed for what should be the prime of his career.

My main issue is that he is being paid more than most of the guys on the team for a KR....

My concern is that he was a better player than most of the guys on the team last year. While he may essentially be a third receiver, he's the only guy that can replace AJ's explosiveness and production if he gets injured again. We just don't know about JJones yet.
