I don't think he'll be there at #18. However, if he did slip down that far I'd love to see him as a Texan.
On a related note I really like Chevis Jackson of LSU as a day two pick, but I think he'd be better suited as a FS if the Texans were to pick him. |

He returned 7 punts for touchdowns in college, but there may be better pure coverage guys.

He and Reggie Smith are the only DBs I'd consider with our 1st round pick.

I've watched other top cb's in the draft, like Mike Jenkins in particular, ranked #1 CB by many who has speed but not excellent speed, is very good in coverage but is more finese/soft & is not very good at all in run support. Before Dunta Robinson went down even I was looking for a similar type of player @ CB who could handle coverage on an island, with closing speed/burst that also had mental toughness in run support, someone not afraid of contact but relished it using speed & technique.
In other words your always on the lookout for another Dunta type/style cover corner & Leodis looks like everthing you could want. I've been posting about him now for a couple weeks & while its exciting to watch a player you covet being showcased in an event such as the Senior Bowl it does bring into question his availablity @ #18? If Leodis McKelvin is there, he not only fills a void/need for the Texans @ the top of their draft board, he would also likey be bpa

You have, and I've been really interested in him since you started talking about him. Your comparison to Dunta could go one step further. In 2004, even days before the draft Dunta was in several mocks going around our spot (18ish)....however we ended selecting him at #10 that year. Saints have the 10th pick this year and are def. looking for some secondary help. Someone so similar to Dunta might even go at 10.

Mckelvin is by far the best CB in this years draft i would be suprised if he falls to #18 but if he does he is the pick.

He starting to build a name for himself with his recent workouts. He didnt have the kind of hype that Jenkins and others have had

McKelvin should grade out higher than Jenkins but some teams will disagree, its a matter of opinion. I like McKelvin because of his expolsion & make-up speed which is better but Jenkins has size & strength. If Jenkins can run a faster than expected combine speed, his shuttle shines showcases his hands which are clearly better than McKelvin, then he should be the #1 CB taken. lets hope that happens & it pushes McKelvin to the texans

It all depends on the teams secondary schemes that are in front of us....ie...man, zone, tampa 2, etc.... That will be the biggest factor in what team drafts who, and quite frankly I don't know enough about the other teams except one will probably draft kenny phillips because they have that big enough of a need in the secondary.

I heard that too. He's doing so well down there he isn't going to get out of the top fifteen now. He posts what I think he'll post at the combine...he'll be off the board when we come up.

This kid has looked great at the Senior Bowl practices this week and he's
probably the first CB taken in the Draft and easily a top tener, unless of course he'd have a bad combine in Indy and stink it up with his 40 time. |

How about Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie? Heard he was looking pretty good.

he's got the name but his game needs refined & add strength. at this point he is a solid 2nd rd. selection. would be a steal for the Texans if still on the board with 3rd rd. pick but I doubt he lasts that long.

That would be my vote or gamble the kid from Auburn will be there in the third. Patrick Lee has looked very nice this week. But we're reaching for need now. Move down, pick up ammo. Which is exactly what Rick Smith aid he would do a couple of weeks go.
