I just figured CC might want a Heisman Winner, or maybe double Heisman winner with a 3rd round pick. How many other double heisman winners dont go top 5?

Its not a wasted pick. QB's have value. And White has 4 years under his belt. He would be a servicable backup.

Drafting a backup QB on day 1 is a waste, Heisman winner or not.

2003 Jason White, QB, Jr. Oklahoma
2002 Carson Palmer, QB, Sr. Southern Cal
2001 Eric Crouch, QB, Sr. Nebraska
2000 Chris Weinke, QB, Sr. Florida State
1999 Ron Dayne, RB, Sr. Wisconsin
1996 Danny Wuerffel, QB, Sr. Florida
1994 Rashaan Salaam, RB, Jr. Colorado
1993 Charlie Ward, QB, Sr. Florida State
1992 Gino Torretta, QB, Sr. Miami
1991 Desmond Howard, WR, Jr. Michigan
1990 Ty Detmer, QB, Jr. Brigham Young
1989 Andre Ware, QB, Jr. Houston

I'm not so sure that White would be a wise pick in the 3rd Round for the Texans. For starters it seems like that's a little high to take a QB who would be a 3rd Stringer at best, and more likely would be on the PS. Carr would already be locked in as the starter, then even if Banks leaves you still have Dave Ragone and Symmons with experience in the Texans offense. That makes it pretty tough on White to win himself a roster spot. It seems to me that if the Texans are concerned with their depth at QB they might look to FA to address that need by picking up a veteran QB. There are always a few decent backup QBs floating around in free agency.

I listed all the Heisman busts of the last 15 years. The jury is still out on Carson Palmer and Jason White. My point was that just because they won the Heisman it doesnt mean they will be good in the NFL.

I like what I've seen of Fason. He seems like a good and durable back. I never thought of him until texansfan88 mentioned him.
