i know places like nfldraftcountdown have been predicting us taking thomas davis...while i welcome that idea completely shouldn't we be giving earl a chance to grow i the system...just a thought...if i was to take a crack at this it would look something like this

1st. marcus spears...de for us move smith to nt
2nd. barret ruud...put this guy next to sharper...can you say teddy bruschi
3rd. donovan raiola...one heck of a center
3rd. antonio perkins...amazing kick returner with the speed to take it to the house

I think Cheek had to be active for 5 games for the pick to tranfer to the Texans

I would be highly critical of this draft...Spears is an excellent pick,
Shazor not great (Earl now starting, coleman new contract), but I would live it.
Wilkerson coming off injury, might be a value in the 4th or 5th.
White another young QB on the 1st day to be a career back-up??
Gore another RB with injury concerns

Haven't given up Earl but why not upgrade? I think Davis would definitely be an upgrade. I like what Earl does in run support but Davis is awesome in this aspect. I just don't see any ILB's that would be worth a 15-18 pick. Maybe DE or RB but I have seen what Davis can bring.

As for Brown, he can go somewhere else and faceplant himself as Daniel Graham catches TD passes over him.

Thomas Davis has not and by all indications will not apply for this years draft so its really mute until something official is announced

if he were I'd be all for drafting him. its going to take the larger more atheltic safetys to deal with all the talented TE's in the NFL today. right now Earl, McCree or Brown will all experience their share of problems. yes this is a weakness but until Davis declares your best off trying free agency again (I was hoping Darius from the Jags would have been a nice fit).

"ATHENS, Ga. (AP) -- Georgia safety Thomas Davis said he's leaning toward skipping his final year of college to enter the NFL draft.

Davis was eligible to enter the draft after last season since he was redshirted his first year at Georgia. But he never seriously considered it.

it was reported a week ago on the great blue north draft report, sorry I can't access the link because they don't have a link to do that. But basicly it stated that the Georgia players felt they had unfinished buisness, Davis being amongst the most vocal as a leader should be. While I'd love for him to declare at the same time it seems in the best interest of Davis (will be a top 10 pick next year) Georgia (chasing a national championship) and College Football, now if they can just get rid of the BCS and install a playoff system

additional information supports to a degree he may in fact come out(you may be correct) although a good agent worth his salt might explain the difference between money signed as the 17th or 18th pick (this year) compared to the 9th or 10th pick (next year, assuming injury free).

The info is from a couple of stories in the Atlanta Constitution a couple of weeks back. Davis was implying that he really intended to come back and graduate etc although he was leaving the door open if he got a good report from the NFL committee on where he might be drafted. The other two - Thurman and Jean-Gilles - both were also quoted as saying they would be back - at this time with bowls coming up everyone says they are leaning toward to coming back...but... - however if you really read their comments they really weren't that enthusiastic about staying in school.
