Colts extend Sanders

Indianapolis Colts safety Bob Sanders has signed a five-year, $37.5 million contract with the Colts that includes $20 million in guaranteed money, according to NFL sources.

The contract makes Sanders the highest-paid safety in the NFL.

Sanders, whose playoff performance sparked the Colts on their run to a Super Bowl victory last season, would have been an unrestricted free agent after this season.

well winning helps them sign their players without paying the premiums it takes other teams who arent winning.

one day they will have to pay the cap piper but obviously its not today.

when Addai and Clark want more $$ they may run into some problems...but that is still some time away. They will probably just let them go elsewhere and plug someone else in. With a real QB like Manning at the helm, you can plug just about anyone in.

Everybody thought losing Edgeran James a couple years ago was gonna be a
big problem for the Colts, but obviously it wasn't. And I suspect they rustle up
another TE pretty quick. Even losing their long-time OLT to retirement was NP it would appear. But they do pay their D guys, as we know Freeney had a big payday this past offseason just as Sanders just got.
But Peyton is the one who's indespensible on their offense. I think he's the absolute best in the game today, even better than Brady and one of the games all-time greats who deserves to be mentioned in the same sentence with Elway, Marino, Unites, et al.

According to this website there are only 3 teams with less cap room than the Colts right now. Will be interesting what they can do in the offseason.

Then again they are all about the draft so maybe they don't care they don't have any room for other teams free agents and they are confident that they can replace any losses in house.
