Hopefully this guy can play better pass defense than we have been seeing.
I saw this quote posted in a Megan Manfull blog. Here is the quote from Kubes: "Fred's playing a lot more at corner, OK?" Kubiak said. "He's going to play a lot more this week. (Faggins) is going to play in nickel. Petey's going to play inside. He's going to play corner when Fred's out of the game." |

I dunno if he starts but, "all indications point toward Fred Bennett making his first career start this week", is not the same as an official declaration that he starts.

To me, it's not a matter of "who starts"....its a matter of "whose playing CB #2 the majority of the game. Bennet has been playing pretty good these last few games. So be it if Faggins starts but Bennet takes over on the 2nd series and stays there the rest of the game...
Just be sure to watch the whole game b/c people get caught up in whose starting over who. We just need the best CB playing opposite of Dunta the majority of the snaps, regardless of who starts. If Bennett can lock down that spot by the end of the year, it could really free up a pick during the draft and should improve our secondary!

If Bennett can show over the final half of the season he belongs in the NFL at corner the Texans might be able to scratch CB off their to do list next off-season .....

I like Petey Faggins. I think he makes a fine back up DB. The guy works his tail off and gives everything he's got 100% of the time. But it's crystal clear he is not a front line NFL corner. I have no problem with his roster spot. He's great for the younger guys to show them how a pro is supposed to prepare. But there is no getting around the tallent thing. He cannot cover front line NFL speed recievers. No ones fault. God just didn't give him the tallent to do it. Join the club Petey.

The big probelm is what are they going to do with Dante Robinson ? Now if you're telling me that our best corner is going to resign a new deal, then yes they can gamlble on him. I dunno and I ain't in the room, what I see everytime they shove a microphone into his face after a loss is a guy tired of loosing and is prepared to do something about it. They can tag him for sure. But wouldn't shock me a bit if Robinson Bails when he gets the chance . The guy is in great pain when we lose. And he's tired of it.

In a perfect world, Bennett would nail down the #2 CB spot & Echemandu would nail down the RB spot. Then, we could go after a bonafide LT with our #1 pick. With the cash we'll have this off season, we should be able to get a solid veteran FS in free agency & some interior OL depth.

Get out of here with sensible ideas. What we need is another DL to get that pass rush we don't have. Olinemen are there in rounds 4-7, as are RBs and DBs. Or, whatever GB and Denver don't want on their teams anymore. Nice try, though.

He had quite a bit of responsibility after D-Rob went down. It looks like he has responded well so far. Interceptions are something that we were ranked in the lowest 7 teams coming into this game.

Bennett had a great game...excellent interception and he almost got another at the end of the game. It's so good to see him playing well.
Faggins looked pretty bad again. Taking over to guard the right side isn't his strong point, completely missed a tackle that resulted in a big gain, missed the interception at the goal line that went into the wr's hands for a TD...but wait will demps was there. Demps had a great game. He had HUGE hits and saved that TD reception there. AS well as earlier when he got that lame @$$ penalty. I think all our guys were hitting harder and playing more aggressive which was great to see. Demps was a huge bright spot in our secondary this afternoon. Bad news on Dunta though. Jeez! it looked bad, i rewinded it several times to see what happened. I thought they said he hyper-extended his knee. I couldn't tell if it was that or if his leg broke at the shin. Either way I don't expect to see him back the rest of the season.
