Default Ridiculous to be talking offensive line at this poit.

Yes, the offensive line is the problem, but what's with this front freaking office? They've had six years to build a halfway decent offensive line, and we still don't have one. We have a line that lets the QB get creamed all the d**n time, and what, so now the QB's out with concussion and hip and knee and ankle injuries. So we have a serviceable 2nd QB who seems not to get injured but he's working behind the same c****y offensive line.

What IS the deal?

Couldn't they just say, like WE HAVE TO FREAKING HAVE A NEW OFFENSIVE LINE NOW! and buy one? Like free agents, trades, the draft?

Couldn't they have said that four or five years ago?

It's a joke, this team. It's Keystone Kops. And Kubiak, what's he about? No wonder he was 20 years in the league a "coordinator" up in the booth--the team for the last five weeks has looked just about like the Dom Capers team. The differences are slim, very slim.

OK, Sage Rosenfels is better than Carr, and so is Schaub when he's not injured or scared of being injured. THe running game is better? I don't think so. THe passing game? Rosenfels had one quarter where he had a hot hand, otherwise the passing game (since the 1st 2 weeks) is not better than under Capers. The D?

Please shoot this team now and start over.

Cause the old regime sucked and got fired.

The new regime drafted 2 OTs and one got hurt so bad he may never play again during his second game. So drafting a coach him up guy this year, does not impress you?

Don't blame the first 4 years on the current FO, they did not try to win now for 4 years and not build a foundation to replace the broken one they did buy, Boselli and Young never helped this team due to injuries, but had they been healthy, our line changes for the 1st 3 years. And it would still suck today because Casserly never drafted a player that can play OT. Worse he went out and twice paid LT money to RT players. What a joke he was.

This group has had a decent track record so far drafting players, so give them time to replace the mistakes the old group made. And them place the blame they deserve for their own mistakes.

This is my first post so bare with me. Let's stop stating what we already know in how bad the offensive line, running back, defensive line, corner, & our safties are and throw out ideas on how to improve it. Where do we stand on salary cap space for this coming year? What free agents are available that meet our immediate need? Who is are we looking at in the draft? Who would you be willing to dump in the offseason with an upgrade replacement?

I hate losing but I hate complaining about it even more.

Cool Re: Ridiculous to be talking offensive line at this poit.

790 kept playing the sound bite of Jorworski (sp) talking up Boselli just before the draft. And how ANY QB would be safe here and ANY RB could run here. Sigh. LOL?

So far, the worst draft class (and I'm going by number of players active on the roster) is the 2003 draft. Even though he is a centerpoint of the team, AJ is the only player drafted from 2003 who is still active. From the initial draft, Pitts, Weary, and Faggins are still on the team. From 2004, it's Dunta, Glenn Earl, and Charlie Anderson.

Who should the Texans gone after this offseason that they didn't? With no draft pick in the second.

There are a ton of problems with this team and you can't fix them all at once.

Hard to evaluate the offensive line during the Carr years given their poor coaching and well that Carr was back there.

During the Kubiak years, they drafted two 3rd round Olinemen. One got hurt and the other has played well. They acquired Jordan Black who has been mostly a nothing, but given how the injuries have gone, I am not sure I want the circumstances to show up where Black has to be pressed into service.

When you say "Couldn't they just say, like WE HAVE TO FREAKING HAVE A NEW OFFENSIVE LINE NOW! and buy one? Like free agents, trades, the draft?" are you really saying, go out and spend a lot of money on Todd Wade.

It is absolutely frustrating, but most people aren't giving away the quality linemen that they have grown on their team. And the Texans for various reasons don't have a zillion dollars to spend on free agent linemen.

I wonder if the OL looks the part , practices the part , but come game time they morph back to swiss cheese . I guess that's been the M.O . for a lot of Texans .

And what is worse to me, "it's (off season) Saturday night and I ain't got nobody (weak free agent market for our needs). I got some money ($30 million) as I just got paid. I wished I could find somone to talk to." by Sam Cook. This team just can not get a break. Unless it is provided by Mr. Dayne of course.

a bit of correction FO has not had 6 years, we changed 2 years ago when we hire Rick as new GM. So he has had ONLY 2 years to build an O-line, however we rushed for more yards then SD. We also have done a decent job of pass defense, both hits on Schaub came LATE.

I think we doing fine on our OL, could it be better...Yes, do we miss Steve McKinney @ Center HE-- Yes.

I said it then and I still believe now, we should have picked D'Brickashaw Ferguson instead of Mario.

Dominant LTs do not grow on trees and most of them are drafted by the teams that keep them. I understand Kubiak's desire to build a solid D, but the fact remains that we've NEVER had a solid LT in 5.5 seasons now. Even a little ol' fan like me knows the game is won and lost in the trenches.

I'm surprised that Kubiak's entire gameplan revolves around establishing a running game yet they've done little in the way of beefing up the line to make it so.

I agree about D'Brick. He looked pretty solid, and I think it is the kind of pick that the Texans will need to change things around.

I agree with the way the Texans have built from the trenches, and I hope they continue to build the team that way - but it's time to look at the trenches on the offensive side of the ball.

A good debate for the Draft section is whether LT or C is more important - that if you could pick only one position to replace on the team, which would it be? LT would do a lot for the passing game, but C could possibly do even more good if a slam-dunk adds lanes for running backs. Just thinking out loud there.

No need to even have the debate. You can pick up a good C in the 3rd. LT in the 1st and C in the 3rd ain't sexy but could be very effective.

But from my understanding he has not played all that well, including last year where he gave up more sacks than all of our LT (going from memory here) combined.

As much as people lately have blasted all of our coaches, it would stem to reason he would have been even worse here.

and to make things worse, it takes two years for a LT to develop and often three to reach his peak. Even if we draft a very good LT, it may be 12 games before he rounds into shape. There has not been an over abundance of LT on the free agent market either.

Who gets the bigger bucks, LT or center? Yep, there you go.
