It seems Kubiak feels like he has a superstar on his hands. It's ridiculous that he is still in our backfield and blows plays. I hate that dude's play w/ a passion...

Next season if any time.
He's "quality depth". Even if he does suck, at least we'll have someone who can backup our CBs that knows the defense. :P Don't worry, he'll shine against team's 3rd stringers next preseason.

It's probably a similar situation as Salaam and Fatigan. Herv mentioned they might of caught Kubiak and Sherman in relations in order to still be on an NFL team.
Maybe Petey caught McNair in the bathroom with his hand in the cookie jar.

Or it could be we are a bad team with very little depth at those positions and are forced to play sub par players way to often!

That is not going to happen anytime soon. Sadly Petey is one of our top cb's (and I say that truthfully), and we would hurting more in the secondary if we released him (not sarcastic). I want an upgrade as much of the next person...esp at LT, so let's put it in perspective. Salaam has been horrible, imo...just like Faggins. So what should we do? Cut him...that means Jordan Black comes in as our starting LT and I'm not so sure that's an upgrade. So your damned if you do and damned if you don't. Some may argue...'Black can't be anyworse'- sadly, yes he may be and we would have our starting QB and back up QB on IR...not something you just want to mess around with.

This is the answer fans' don't want to face. Every year fans have a worst player ever that could/should be replace by anyone with a pulse. Actually, the reality is that there is not a better option. And that fact really does suck for the Texans.

Point blank , Faggins is the second best CB on the roster ..... Replacing him with some guy off the street isnt going to make the defense better .
The D-line isnt producing much in the way of pressure on the opposing QB . Their scheme of expecting 4 guy's to rush Vs 5-6 blockers isnt producing . Until they get consistant pressure from their front 7 you can expect to see the same thing from the D-backs.

The only issue I have with that statement is as soon as Faggins commits a mistake, they pull him out of the game in favor of someone else. So the routine seems to be to leave him in there until he gets burned. I am not saying he should be cut, but if you have it in your mind to replace him on the field at the first mistake anyway, why not start someone else in the first place?

CB is one of the premier positions on any NFL team....the problem is that Kubiak rolled into this season thinking that Faggins could hold down the CB2 and Fletcher could hold down the Nickel (thats how he came into the season). He was wrong on both and it can't be fixed till next season. You just don't reach out to the street and find NFL quality cover corners. We had a chance to solidify our CB situation last year during the draft with an outstanding prospect, but we chose to draft another 3 technique lineman. You can only do so much fixin' in one offseason.

The Patriots D has for example excelled for years with a handful of good players and a bunch of upgradables playing well together in an excellent scheme. The Texans are short on both talent and scheme.

CC and the crappy drafting factory has messed up this team far worse than anyone can imagine and they are trying to fix the problems as quickly as they can. I liked the Ahman signing when it happened because there was not much out there and it was not all that bad after year two he can be gone with no real dent in the cap. Bennett wh was drafted, has improved over the course of the season but he is still a rookie that was a 4th round pick. He could easily be starting next year or at the very least be the nickle. This coming draft O-Line (I guess me saying I wanted Levi brown does not look so bad now) and safety should be a top priorty. Oh by the way everyone was complaining about our WR core, I do not here to many complaints on that now.

It's not like we haven't invested heavily in the defensive line. Someday it might pay dividends...or at least we can hope it does. Even Denver's CBs - one of the best 1 - 2 tandems in the league - got burned last night. But Favre had lots of time to set up those passes. They did not get a lot of consistent pressure on him, which lets him pick apart the secondary. |
