Someone used the word "myopic" in another thread to describe Austin sports coverage in general and I can't remember who it was, but I hope I gave him rep for it.

I can't say I blame Golden for most a lot of what he said about the Texans because they have brought most of that on themselves, but if you read between the lines there was some smiling going on while the Monday article was being typed. He did forget to mention his wrong prediction that Vince would play, as always. He brings up KEYE, I think that is his way of sticking it to Texan fans. I really believe he and the other "writers" for the statesman dislike all things Houston.

Maybe I'm ranting because I have to put up with this day in and day out. Recently they wrote about Dennis Franchione being on the bubble. They did the same with Nebraska. Worthy articles, they are in trouble. Yet where is an article wondering the same about Mack Brown?? One can only recruit so much in Huntsville (just a little joke), and when you do and the arrests start piling up at what point does the Austin press do the unthinkable and write about what is ultimately good for the school??

Back to the point. Did I read the "I hate you because you didn't draft Vince" thing, or was I just looking for it??

That was one of my rants. I wouldn't want to live anywhere in Texas other than Austin, but good grief, it's an annoying trait in this town.

Indeed. At first I though "small college town, what else have they to talk about?" but that was many many new Austinites ago. Do you know they still refer Houstonians as "Houstonites?"

I hear ya man, a lot of snobbish and fairweathered fans here. I love living in Austin, but people need to move on.
