Hate to say it but that would be the reason they wouldn't want it in houston. The NFL is anti houston..they don't want us getting a monday night game. Hell, they didn't even want us to have a team

Personally, they should play the game in LA. Close drive for those in San Diego, plus you could pack up the Coliseum.
I think USC plays at home this weekend. Doubt if they could get that turf right in a day.

They wouldn't move up the Denver game, they are already an hour behind Houston. You would be screwing the fans going to that game.

The game is scheduled to start at 6:30 Denver time, that would mean 5:00 in Denver because of a fire in SoCal so a low rating team like the Texans can be on prime time? I don't think so.

I don't think playing two games in two days is going to cause problems with the turf.

The field is used only for USC games that I know of, so it should be in execellent condition to handle two days of use.

Even though it is really old and lacking amenties of today, a beautiful stadium and a great area.

the article has been posted for a while on chron.com

option #1 is to play the game in San Diego on Monday night (the nfl needs to know asap if that can happen)

option #2 Texas Stadium
option #3 Reliant

LA and Arizona are no longer options

Houston has always had a good walk up crowd. I doubt that anyone in Az or Dallas would step up for the game.

So sorry for the folks losing their homes & memoreis to this monster.

610 guy mentioned that they May just stay on the WC if they have the game in Az. I think having it in LA would be a disater.

Actually its the FIRST place they would want the game considering it would bring the largest gate outside of San Diego itself. But the Chargers obviously do not want to concede a home game to the Texans.... with good reason.

I'm pretty sure Houston would sell tickets, what is stopping them from making Houston the spot is it would take away the Chargers Home game. As for we couldn't keep a crowd...we sold it out, its not like no one showed up or no one cared.

Houston is a big Market. That's why we have a team in almost every pro-league. A pro-team in all the Major leagues.

As for moving up the Denver game for Houston...I guess they won't do it, but they also don't want to make the Houston-San Diego game unwatchable. They are also going against Baseball that night and already moved it up 30 minutes because of the world series(according to NFL.com) and they probably would move it up another 30 minutes if the Houston game is moved to Monday. Look at the first MNF game, the first game was started earlier so that the second game could start at a reasonalbe time in San Fran.

I wouldn't be so sure about that.

One time game in LA at the Coliseum?

At this moment, the last thing I would bank on is a walk up gate from Houston Texan fans against a top tier team in the AFC.

They'll probably move this to Monday Night in San Diego.

I'm confused on the Monday in SD - something is magically going to happen in 24 hours such that the game can be played there?

I want the game here!!!!

I am absolutely sure on that. The ONLY city outside of SD with as close or the same vested interest in THIS game is the city of Houston. PERIOD. LA had a hard enough time getting fans to watch their own team.... but two from different cities? It may be a decent turnout.. but its common sense that outside of SD, Houston (yes, the other team playing) would bring the largest gate.

SD on Monday night or Dallas are most likely from what I am hearing. Again, San Diego does NOT want to give up a home game to the Texans.

The Chargers are probably not concerned about home field advantage. Very rarely is it an issue at Reliant for an opposing team.

The chargers probably don't want to deal with the ticket situation with regular season ticket holders. That is just a mess all the way around and an administrative nightmare.

It's fickle support. Probably the last thing Bob McNair wants on prime time TV is a less than half full stadium on Monday Night. It would be embarrassing. You really think that many people are going to rearrange their schedules on a few days notice for a team that is getting knocked around and is playing a top tier team?

San Diego is 3 hours behind the East Coast. They play the game on Monday Night in San Diego (if possible) and start it around 7:30 or 8:00. That's probably the best solution considering this horrible situation...

Huh??? Bob McNair is very much campaigning to have this game in Houston. And who says it would be on prime time? And yes, considering that Houston would bring the largest Gate outside of SD, they are very much concerned of giving a home game to the Texans. I heard it on the radio this morning from a Charger radio personality on 790.

There are a lot of Charger season ticket holders in LA. A lot of people from San Diego that live in LA.

You are discounting that way too much considering how the Texans are playing and that fan support wanes badly when the team gets kicked around.

You are banking on Texan fan support that isn't there. With that in mind, home field isn't really the issue.

Honestly, I think it would be embarrasing.

You are way off on this imo. The reasons I have state are the REASONS WHY we are not getting the game. And embarrassing? These are not normal circumstances anyway.
