Let's face it, the NFL does NOT care about its fans. Hopefully it will be in SD Sunday, so that people with travel plans aren't screwed.

I had travel plans and canceled them because it didn't make sense for me to go if there was no game. I had to make that decision Tuesday evening. So, I was screwed even though I had travel plans.

If they have the game in Texas Stadium, my friend in SD was going to overnight the tickets to me so I could use them here.

That really sucks.. Sorry man!! Unfortunately you are a prime example of what I was talking about with the NFL, Spanos and SD's mayor getting their act together early enough to avoid situations like yours... Nothing ever good comes out of waiting to the last minute...

You keep ringing that bell, but maybe it's better for more people than it hurts? I am sure the stadium will still be full or close to it if they play in San Diego.

I understand Pencil Neck's issue, but moving the game prematurely probably would have screwed more people than helped people like Pencil Neck.

How do you think Houston fans would feel if a game was pulled prematurely and could have been played at Reliant as scheduled normally?

This is about accomdating San Diego fans, their stadium, and giving them the benefit of the doubt...

Stop complaining and calm down. They are doing everything possible to hold the game in SD - where it should be played if at all possible. Let them make a reasonable decision today based on the latest facts. You make it sound as if this delay is going to somehow negatively impact the teams, which it doesn't. They know they are playing each other on Sunday (or Monday) - that is enough...

No, he's actually saying the delay has a negative impact on the FANS, specifically Texans fans who cancelled their travel plans already due to cancellation deadlines, etc.

Shouldn't San Diego be more concerned about their fans than Houston fans?

It's their home game...

What if a hurricane was coming through the Gulf to hit Houston, they move the game to Dallas, and then at the end, the game could have been played in Houston after all because hurricane hit somewhere else or fizzeled out?

I don't think they are waiting till the last minute, there are more plans going to be disrupted by moving game the game than waiting to see if it all works out in the end. People plan for this stuff months in advance.

San Diego owes nothing to traveling fans, much less Texan fans.

The Flex Schedule they do is a prime example of that...

Perhaps. But the delay is intended to try and help out 99.9% of the fans who would be in attendance - hometown Charger fans. It is what it is...and I am glad they are doing everything in their power to play the game in SD.

No doubt the best scenario (attendance and everything else) would be to play the game in SD.. but no matter how you slice it, 74 hours and counting to kick-off is not premature.. Logistically it's a nightmare. It's not just the two teams and their entire staffs, its television crews, officials, etc. etc...

So with that said, I stand by comments (about the NFL, SD's Mayor and Spanos) with respect to "**** or get off the pot".

Both teams are still waiting for San Diego mayor Jerry Sanders to make a decision. He is scheduled to tour the area with President Bush today before making the announcement this afternoon.

“I'm hoping this thing clears up and we'll be ready to go,” Chargers president Dean Spanos told the San Diego Union-Tribune. “We're waiting for the mayor to ultimately to give us the word ... Obviously, he's under a lot of pressure, and we respect that and are patiently waiting.”

In addition, if the Mayor of SD declares that the game goes ahead in SD as scheduled, and then for some reason they are unable to play the game, The Chargers should forfeit it.

Even if the fire gets extinguished, what about the people in the stadium? I'm sure some have lost their houses. Where are they to go?

Most people have cleared out.

I called the hotel I am staying at to make sure my reservation is still valid for the game. The guy at the reservation desk said everyone cleared out yesterday. He acted like everything is getting back to normal. It's a bad situation, but the world isn't coming to end over there. At least that is how I interpreted his remarks to my questions.
