Default Some strange notes from Kubiak's quotes

Why didn't Amobi start on Sunday? Kubiak was very quiet with that one.

What is wrong with Fred Bennett in practice? He has played very wel in games, but Kubiak continues to talk his skills down, saying he needs to be a better practicer

Kubs said that Bennett needs to practice like a pro on a previous presser. I'd take it as he needs to practice like it's game day, everyday. Faggins has been a professional at practice this entire season, but questionable on game day. If Bennett could practice like Faggins and out perform him, it would be a no brainer for the coaches.

Between coach, Okoye
Coach Gary Kubiak started Anthony Maddox in place of Amobi Okoye against the Jaguars, but wouldn't specify why. Okoye entered the game on the second play and saw his usual amount of action.

"It was something that was between me and Amobi," Kubiak said. "That was a team deal, just between us."

Perhaps a ploy to get Maddox pumped up.
The Jags did release him in the final roster cut last year.

I think Kubiak mentioned Maddox as one of the players who did well in the game during the presser.

I've always liked Maddox ever since last year when he returned a fumble for a touch down.

Fred is the one who chased down Taylor from behind on his long run. Must have some good speed.

This is probably a different kind of coach talk here. To motivate Bennett to work harder in practice (good thing to remind a young player) while not putting down Petey, JMHO.
We probably need both (?) on the field this year.

translation of the coach-speak: "fred bennett, we like you. you've got 'it'. please get 'it' on the practice field so we can be certain that 'it' isn't going anywhere during the games."
I read it as "This guy is our CB for the future. But he needs to do a lot more film work and he needs to learn how to do it. He needs to show us that he understands what's going on when we're practicing."
