It's Time to Get Mad Coach!

I'm not jumping off the Texan Bandwagon, and will be there to support out team against the Packers. But Coach Caper's, it's time to get mad and chew some ars. I'm getting tired of seeing your emotionless face with an open mouth every time the camera is on you during these past two blowouts. You need to get the attention of these athletes and wake them up, let them realize this will not be tolerated. I remember years ago seeing Jimmy Johnson just ripping his linemen up and down over a lousy first quarter, the result was improved play and a win. I've seen numerous other NFL coaches have these little meetings during the game to install a spark, but have yet to see you do this with the Texans.
Please do not allow this to happen next week against the Packers or the fans at the loudest stadium in the NFL will let you and the players know how they feel. I don't want to hear you comment tomorrow on how the players did not give up. The offensive line never showed up, they gave up before the game started. There's no way to sugar coat this loss. Get pssed and don't let the players have their day off, they don't deserve it. You need all the practive you can get right now.

I agree 100% with you. Capers needs to wake up over there on the sideline he just looks dumbfounded over there when ever things are going sour.

What time does thje show start?I will call just to see what he has to say....there is no excuse for this showing today...none.After what they did last week against denver....you would think they would come in fired up!Offense line deserves an F with a few letters added on to the end.Unbelievable in the the only word I can think of.Very pathetic

Capers will get hammered tomorrow and he deserves it (starts at 5:00 p.m.). Not so much for his mannerisms on the sideline but more for his team being totally unprepared two weeks in a row. The last thing I want to hear is some fool telling him he needs to close his mouth and jump up and down on the sideline - as if that would change anything.

After the Denver game, Capers lamented that the team had taken a step
back in the Bronco game and was going to have to re-group and re-
focus for the Colts. So, what does he deliver?...the worst defeat in Texans
history!!! Is it the message or is it the messenger? Somewhere or some-
how what is being said by the Coach is not getting translated onto the
field. Poor coaching, including game planning? Lack of player effort? What
we all saw Sunday is not a mirage that is suddenly going to go away with
easy excuses like (1) we're still an expansion team or (2) we're just in our
third year or (3) every team has a bad game once in a while---this game
is an ugly reminder of something else...where is the heart?where is the
desire?where is the passion?...it's not just about losing that counts, it's
about how you lose...and it starts with showing up to play! Did the Texans
show up Sunday? If not, why? If so, it's going to be a long second half...

I agree that Capers need to get fired up once in a while, for the fact that the players feed of off thier coaches demeanor and reactions.

Capers has never been a vocal coach. I remember him being very passive on the Panthers sidelines too. I think he is more of a finesse guy than a "Gruden" guy. He always seems to be analyzing a situation instead of getting mad about it.

Dom Capers is much like Tom Landry was. He doesn't show much emotion on the sidelines. To me it's not that big of a deal. He's done a really good job for the 3 years the team has been a team.

Players need to start making some plays, making some blocks and things will iron themselves out.

Since this is a thread about coaching, I'll say it. The first half in particular was one of the worst coaching jobs I have seen. Clock and time-out management, calling for replays of plays that were clearly called correctly, bad playcalling, bad game planning, not putting in Wells when Davis was doing zero, not helping Spears, who was making Jimmy Herndon look like Jonathon Ogden, not being fast enough to adjust to what the Colts were doing on offense, and especially defense, and lastly, looking like you were clueless and not chewing some butt. I like Capers personally, and you won't find a coach more prepared mentally, but when Deloach was acting like he was going for a stoll in the park, instead of hustling to get a loose ball, I woulld have chewed his arse out right there. I know Capers likes to keep that stuff out of the public, but there are times where that is called for. His team didn't show up on many levels, and he is ultimately responsible as the leader.

Dude, my job and location prevent me from calling into the Dom Capers Show. That's why I posted my concerns here. and for AJ, no I don't want to see a coach jumping up and down on the sideline, don't believe I ever posted that. I do want to see a coach trying to light a fire under his players when they are underachieving. I do not believe that qualifies me as a fool.

This is not a rule, it's more of just asking members to be courteous to others so please do not post messages with all in capital letters. Words all in capitals take much more time to read than normal writing and most people find them annoying. Sitting thru and reading that entire post takes effort and is hard on the eyes. Besides, most people skip over posts that are in all caps. You are defeating the whole reason you typed in caps to begin with.

Some emotion on the sidelines can,t do any harm, but ultimately,the players and Coach need to step it up.If Capers can communicate his message without screaming and shouting ,then fine,but if his players respond better to a good ear chewing then he needs to vocalise loudly.

Don't underestimate the effect of showing some emotions...remember how Carr's getting angry at the Jags game really fired up the team. I think especially if you were to see Capers show any sort of anger, etc. on the sidelines during the game it would have a real effect...kind of a "holy ****, Dad's really pissed" effect.

Now...we don't need to have him go Parcells on us...but in some ways I wish he would be a little more like Bill...at least as far as getting fired up on the sidelines is concerned.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a parent...I know all about yelling till you're blue in the face and it not making a damn difference...LOL. Maybe Dom is the master Jekyl/Hyde and really rips into the boys in the locker room when the cameras are off and they just don't respond...but I don't think so.

I guess it's a matter of personal preference? A lot of teams do great with coaches that "walk softly" and some "just suck" (as their own coaches put it) with their emotional coaches. But I think every team needs someone to be the driving force to keep it going/motivated. If not the coach, then I would think the QB...and Carr often shrugs off mistakes as easily as Capers does. It's only recently this season that he's started to get really ticked at himself...but even late yesterday there were moments he was smiling and happy - um...no. WE WEREN'T - you're not allowed!!

Please tell me that doesn't mean it all falls on us, the fans, to carry these boys then....they're awfully heavy. Plus, I don't want us to be those that starting booing our own team when they screw up. But I mean come on...is that what it's gonna take? Are they too comfortable in their position with us?

I'm just heartbroken. Way too good of a team to be playing like this.
