Okay, I can understand missing calls or making a subjective call that I disagree with. However, the following play shows their incompetence:
On the Ted Ginn reverse, Ginn was tackled on the 47. Trent Green was asleep on the 46 when TJohnson was flagged. Can someone explain to me why Miami got the ball on the 25? It's pretty simple. There's a deadball foul. The ball is dead on the 47. Take the ball and walk 15 paces to the 32 yard line. How can you miss by 7 yards? Even if they attempted to assess the penalty from the point of the foul, the ball should have been placed on the 31! |

I suspect that they assesed it from the original line of scrimmage. I don't know if that is the correct thing to do though.

No, the original line of scrimmage was at the 30 something. If that were the case, the ball should have been placed inside the 20- but that would have been an error because it was clearly a deadball foul.

We still won. Refs must have been mad.

Seems like the refs never called interference.
At times their DBs were all dry humping our receivers. Yeah, the refs this game were stupid.

on this we can completely agree dalemurphy.
it did seem as if we got the kindergarten crew of refs for this game. Wonder if it has to do with the 0-5 Phins and the 2-2 Texans playing. I bet the Patriots, Colts, and Green Bay don't get the bottem of the barrell crews like we do.

That was a strange play all around. At first I thought Ginn went out of bounds (bad camera angle). Then I thought a Miami player would get called for blocking from the rear (just above Green & Johnson). Then the announcers said Green was hurt & Johnson got flagged.
I'm not trying to sound heartless here or to trivialize Trent Green's injury, but what exactly is the rule if one team gets a personal foul & the other team gets a clipping penalty? |

I think we're having a stroke of bad luck with the refs over the last two games. I know one of the interference calls last week was bogus too.
I'm really hoping that nfl.com does that weekly stint with the ref where they ask him about a call and they talk about the Travis Johnson hit. I'd love some better detail of that entire play from the blocking to the spot.

I'm actually very intrigued about the ball spot. I listened on the radio while driving but noticed the ball was moved up way too far (as far as I can understand).

They called a taunting penalty on Johnson for yelling at Green, who was face down in the turf. It was after the play was over, so that would make it a dead ball and the spot would be 15 yards from where the play ended. |

I don't think those penalties off-set
I could be wrong, but I don't think they do... |

I didn't see the play, but I thought Travis' penalty was a dead ball penalty...
I don't think a dead ball penalty can off-set a penalty that happened inbetween the whistles... |

I noticed it at the time it happened, too. That was just weird, and I was rather irritated, but we still won at least.

I thought the officiating was particularly bad again today. One of my neighbors at the game make comment that this was the same officiating crew that worked the Jags game a week ago. Is the any way to confirm this information?
