Mario's workout performances completely invalidate any of the slow-twitch fast-twitch crap that permeated the media for a while

Slow twitch muscle are aerobic, slow fatiguing, high strength muscles and fast twitch muscles are anaerobic, quickly fatiguing, quick bursts of energy muscles.

Mario would never have been able to put up his combine numbers if he was predominately a "slow-twitch" kind of guy.

Additionally, EVERYone has both types. At most, you may posses 75-80% of one type, but everyone has both. And there is good evidence that the numbers switch depending on what you train for.

I simply don't buy into the fast twitch slow twitch medical prognosis on Mario Williams. I've seen him fly off the ball, and I've seen him get pancaked from being too slow. I dont think muscle fiber has anything to do with it. I think its primarily football instict, and thats something Mario doesnt seem to have yet

If you want to speculate that his muscles use the wrong energy source and therefore he'll never be a great pass rusher, thats your own perogative. But the fact that he can dominate one game and then disappear the next screams technique, motivation, and instinct to me. I believe my eyes, not some sports writers whose job it is to critique the Texans every move

Been around athletes and sports my whole life....There is a difference in the way people move that has everything to do with fast and slow twitch...

I pretty much think your whole post is flat out wrong, but I won't get into it...

tons of players aren't "instinctive" on the field. David Carr was one of them as a quick example of someone who has an obvious lack of instinct on the field. He really had no good feel for the pocket, struggled reading defenses and had to think about all his decisions to the point where it hampered his natural abilities. Mario isn't instinctive either. He has struggled to learn basic leverage and hasn't shown a great feel for the games nuances yet.

DeMeco Ryans is a good example of a player with great instincts. He can digest a play quickly and puts his body in the right spot to make a play over and over. Morlon Greenwood is just as fast as DeMeco but he isn't as instinctive and he doesn't get to as many plays, or gets in position to make as many impact plays.

He'd kill me, but Jordan Gross is a very solid tackle, if he can't handle him alone, then they'll roll someone else to help or chip. He doesn't have the benefit of coming from Jake's blind side either. Ryan Kalil will likely be able to help as well, if needed.

They have been having him move around a little depending on match ups and situations. So he could, at least part of the time, be coming from his blind side.

Well sure he does!! Unfortunately for Dorothy (his new nickname tabbed by someone other than me) it's bad instincts such as the Fresno tuck.....Never had to much bad to say about him, but when I saw his haircut and those white gloves I sure was glad he was no longer on our bench. If I was his teammates I would hold him down and shave his head.
