By draft, then, remaining a playing (non-IR/Pup) Texans:

2007 - Okoye, Jones, Bennett, Studdard, Diles
2006 - Mario, Demeco, Captain Caveman (Winston!), Owen Daniels
2005 - TJ, Mathis, CC Brown
2004 - Dunta, Anderson
2003 - AJ
2002 - Pitts, Weary, Faggins

Did I miss anybody?

2003 and 2004 - bust years...

Could you list who else they drafted those years, as well as where they are right now? It'd be much appreciated.

That's a lot of football players...

What I take from it:
1. This is a "why the Texans have fallen on hard times" argument, but that's 18 drafted and currently playing compared to 33 not playing. 18 out of 51, if my math serves me right. That's not a productive draft or development.
2. The Texans are lousy in the third round. Hopefully Jones breaks the mold, but I am really surprised at how many third-rounders either haven't panned out or are having trouble (Spencer, Morency, Peek, Wand, Ragone, Hill).
3. It's hard to make the team when you are a fifth, sixth, or seventh-rounder. All the more reason to appreciate Faggins' and Brown's ability and at the same time see it as a sign of the weakness of the defensive secondary (i.e., why Babin needed to be traded).
4. I gotta bang the drum for Studdard. It's impressive that the sixth-rounder has lasted this long, but he had a good preseason, is becoming a fan favorite, and is a Longhorn...

Does anyone think the Texans might pick up Josh Gattis?

What about ex Seattle/Green Bay Safety Marquand Manuel? He was cut by Green Bay yesterday. Does anyone know anything about him?
