Don't they have to cut one more player, or two more if they don't move Spencer to the PUP? For some reason I thought that was supposed to be announced in the early part of the day.

They cut Patrick Pass.

... and WR Harry Williams, and Spencer is officially on the PUP list.

Kind of a surprise, isn't it? I thought Jameel Cook would be the odd man out for FBs, but I guess Pass's injuries were worse than we were let to know.

Some of Kubes comments made it sound like he wasn't as up to speed on the playbook as he needed to be. I don't recall seeing Pass on anything other than special teams. Jameel got some time at FB in the Dallas game. I was surprised to see Pass go so soon, though. I was expecting to see one of the DL go.

And Harry Williams and Charlie Adams were just in the wrong position for the wrong team this year.

I think if Abbate shows any kind of potential in this last game, Cook is gone. Abbate would be able to contribute enough on special teams and as the backup FB to warrent a roster spot.

Agreed Abbatdes special teams potential is really high, that should secure his spot.

Kubiak felt that Pass was more of a RB than a FB. He likes him, but he hadn't gotten the reps at RB to compete at the position. If the Texans have an injury at RB, I wouldn't be surprised to see Pass get a callback.

Pass came in after fighting off an injury so he wasn't in "football shape". Then he got nicked up before he could really show what he could do. Add to that, he came in after OTAs, so he didn't know our offense.

But, like you, I wouldn't be surprised if we give him a recall if injuries strike.

I'm guessing, and I have no insider info, but I'm thinking the same thing about McCarddle. They're going to cut him and then try to pull him back when/if they need him.

To answer the origanal Question, today in the chonicle they write that they will make their last cuts Saturday to give our guys a chance to chatch on somewhere else and to set their practice squad. So if the chornicle is up ro snuff we should see something on the blogs saturday or sunday morning in the paper on the final roater .
