Default Ditka to skip HOF ceremonies

This issue is going to pick up steam quickly... seems like people are speaking out more and more...

Quote:
CHICAGO -- Mike Ditka won't be in Canton, Ohio, for Saturday's Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony
and won't attend another until the NFL and the players' union improve their treatment of disabled players.

"The system is flawed and when they fix the system I'll go back,"
the former Chicago Bears coach and player told The Associated Press on Friday.

Ahh unions. I agree disabled vets need more protection, but you never hear these guys complain about the money they are making while they are playing until they are out of the game and broke.

Better late than never if that is the case.

Comparing players today with players from 15 to 20 years ago is naive. Even guys that played as little as 10 years ago that were journeymen and were hurt deserve a little support. Not every player in the game makes millions, those are the guys Iron Mike is defending.

I understand where he's coming from but I wonder if he considered that the induction ceremonies are all about the players - not the league or unions -or- whatever. Players that might someday need the assistance that he is championing... Especially Gene Hickerson!!

Just another angle to look at.
