This saddens me. One of my best friends in the world and a guy I played football with in high school was a Stanford guy and a mentee of Bill's. They were tight. I know he thought the world of him. Prayers for his family.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20039776/ "Bill Walsh, who transformed the NFL with his West Coast offense and led the San Francisco 49ers to three Super Bowl championships during the 1980s, died Monday after a long battle against leukemia. He was 75."

RIP, BW.
He made the NFL a better league. He is gone, but his huge impact on the game he loved will continue on, and that's probably the best way to remember and thank him. |

Class act. I really hate to see a guy like this go.
I watched a story about him on Real Sports last year and it was really sad to see him in the condition he was in. He was still dedicated to taking care of his wheelchair bound wife. As much as I rooted against his teams, I can't begin to express how fondly I remember them now. |

I had no idea he had cancer. I loved the old SF teams with Montan and Rice, and thought the guy was a genius. I really liked Bill Walsh.
First Marvin Zindler, and now Bill Walsh. Sometimes life sucks.

Anyways, as I stated in the initial post, I know how important he was to my friend and even to the very end he continued helping him in the coaching profession. That was enough for me, even without football.

Watch out Vince and Paul--you've got some more coaching competition.

RIP Coach Walsh The leagacy you left is one that will never be touched, and no matter if you loved or hated the 49ers, you never heard a bad word about Bill Walsh. Not only was he a great coach but also great person who treated people with respect.

I am currently in SF and there appears to be much more 49ers jerseys being donned in the last hour than I have seen the last four days. Walsh was an innovator to the game of football. RIP B-Dub.
